That fuel consumption is the amazing part for me for a machine like that. My little push lawnmower drinks about that much.

It's not new and they have a bunch of videos now, but I only discovered this now despite knowing about Roadkill and Hot Rod Garage forever, of course. I'm really split on this video. It's got some really cool stuff and also some incredibly hick poo poo in it that no serious engine builder should be doing. And it's not like they're fooling around with cheap poo poo, either, that motor is like 100% super-expensive aftermarket parts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJFYw-Ykxu4 Hackfab poo poo: - fat dude #8 smoking a cigar over the motor being assembled, I guess cigar ash improves ring breakin or something - hey we're halfway through assembling this shortblock, let's deburr some things on the head gasket surface of the block now and just drop the shavings into the lifter valley gently caress it who cares - dude loosening and retightening head stud nuts uses the drat torque wrench as a breaker bar, then immediately retorques with it - apparently these guys don't know how to calculate the correction factor for their torque wrenches when using crowsfoot sockets? - tiny bead of sealant around water ports on head gasket looks like it was applied by a parkinsons victim - putting pistons/rods into the block: fumble that poo poo in there with no protector wrapped around the big end of the conrod, send a dude under the motor to get it lined up with the crank, then he fumblefucks around with the bearing cap and nearly scratches the crank journal with the bolts - demonstrate the lifters by fumbling around with them and repeatedly jamming them into the lifter bores dry/misaligned - clean parts off over the open motor you're about to put them on Amazing stuff: everything that isn't hacky. I'd give my left nut for that motor. I'm not arguing with their results, but seriously, I take more care than that assembling a shitpile junkyard-sourced EJ22 or jeep 4.0L in the woods behind my house. What the hell?

I know I've posted the headers one before, if not in this thread then somewhere in AI. It seems like you'd have neutered the engine badly by the time they're done, but the overall area of the header doesn't really decrease that much even as hard as they were mashing it.VikingSkull posted:The Hemi one is great and I have no idea why LS swap candidates don't use them There's a joke in here about there not being enough running-but-worthless Rams to pull them from, I suspect. Also, what's the tuning / wiring situation like with the Hemi? The GM ECU might as well be an aftermarket standalone at this point.

Agreed. If someone finds an open source or reasonably priced way of tuning Mopar motors (short of sending an ECU and money to some asstard with a copy of SCT Tuner who throws a canned tune on it and ships it back) I would be more interested. That being said, I still have two mopar motors to put in jeeps. Just... sadly at stock power levels/etc.

Ah, I'll need to catch up on the double unicorn build. That car looks sweet as hell. In other swap projects, my grandfather has a Volga GAZ-24 which is slowly becoming less and less usable in its current state. Dear ford: gently caress youuuuuuu for not bringing that ranger here. I spent most my life down the street from the ranger plant in the us. It originally made model ts. They demolished it over the last few years to make way for condos. Now we don't have a single decent small pickup. The Tacoma is great if you wanna pay for a fullsize but be smaller and get worse mileage. :-(
