At least if you throw it at schools, there's the hope that someone might learn something.

We'll never know all the details about what was said behind the scenes with CraigyFerg. I suspect he wanted to bow out gracefully rather than risk working directly for CBS and letting them mess with his show, especially if he moved to 11:30. Who knows what would have happened under other circumstances. Doesn't change the fact that the job would have been his if he wanted it, and he would have done a better job.

Where the hell did "emoticon auto-correct" come from?

counterfeitsaint posted:Doesn't change the fact that the job would have been his if he wanted it I highly, highly doubt this. His Late Late Show ratings were dreadful and his "playhouse on TV" style appealed to a very niche demographic. A crazy Scottish guy playing with puppets and a gay robot skeleton would never have played at 11:30 and everyone knows it.

Am I the only one who enjoyed Ferguson more in the early days of the Late Late Show? The wacky playhouse stuff was alright, but I remember his early monologues being much more entertaining when they were just the pure unhinged-ness of his brain coming out stream-of-consciousness style. I started to enjoy the monologues less once he starting patting the camera like he was talking to the viewer.

I used to watch the Ferg about a week or two at a time then kinda have my fill for a month or two, funny how that works. While I'm here I'll say that as an Ohioan watching Kasich sweat on Colbert tonight was pretty satisfying. After his usual posturing of being rational and a uniter yadda yadda he was worse at answering the SC nominee question than Trump, and way more obviously pissed. But most of you probably don't care about him and that's exactly how it should be.

I have friends in Ohio who say the only reason Kasich won the governorship there is that his opponent imploded and that Kasich wouldn't ever actually tell anybody what he was planning to do until he got in and started creeping up the place.

Oh without question there are (and were) some more amazingly terrible people in the running, and I suppose its their comparable odiousness that allows people to stomach the idea that Kasich is somehow moderate when he's just a slightly less belligerent version of the exact same "gently caress you" platform planks. ...Which of course he kindly demonstrated last night. "I'm Mavericky McIndividual! I'm not a slave to the party line!" "So about the Court..." "Party line! Party line dammit!"

Friend of mine who lives in Ohio on Kasich: "Kasich sells himself by saying he governs by "bringing people together," which is a funny way of saying a legislative supermajority allows him to completely ignore half his constituency. He actively hides from those with opposing views. His legislature refuses to listen to them. Yeah, that's "bringing people together." *makes jerk off hand motion*"
