I liked the part on the Judge Dredd episode when they find out that the 2000AD comics are from Britain and get mad about the movie being set in America and full of American actors. Even though the comic is itself set in America since it's explicitly a satire of American politics and culture.

You know, we had a lot of criticism towards the guys regarding the ads they had before the show, so I think it is just fair to praise them now. I don't know what exactly they did, but they fit much better into the show now, it is generally pretty funny now and actually help setting the mood for the show. Maybe it's just that they stopped sticking to a script and added more improv, but whatever it was, it really works.

One thing I like that they've started doing is rolling directly from the ad to the introduction, it gives it a more conversational feel.

Also, advertising things that aren't egregiously horrible helps. Shaving supplies are less bad than DraftKings by a wide margin.

I can't help but imagine Andrew finishing the copy, flicking the mic off, turning to an old timey spitoon and just huckin' one or two after having to jaw about DraftKings or Uber.

I get this funky high on the yellow sun.

I feel like in the newer episodes they go off on longer sidebars / repeat the jokes more often in the same episode. And I couldn't be happier. It's always great how after a few minutes usually Andrew will just go "SO IN THE MOVIE" and try to get them back on track.

Next time Dungeons and Dragons! Hope the guys at WHM are prepared to be educated by a hundred nerds ready to correct any misconceptions they might have.

On the other hand, there is more than enough wrong with Dungeons And Dragons to make for a great episode. Also the movie barely has anything to do with the game in the first place.

I actually like it more when they're totally confused about the source material, like the Pokemon one where they have absolutely no idea what Pokemon is and picked a very confusing episode already.

I can't wait to hear them trying to figure out what D&D is about based solely on the movie.

(D&D itself isn't about anything; it's a blank slate you're supposed to make your own setting for. Why they thought taking something with no inherent narrative and turning it into a movie was a good idea is beyond me.)

There have been several recent episodes where I was hoping they'd just keep on the tangent and forget about the movie.

edit: How do you guys reckon that WHM have never played D&D before? I guarantee you they've tasted that fruit

Because you can do pretty much whatever the gently caress you want with the script and have a built in audience based on name recognition.

They still kinda screwed that up. There are scenes with weird blue guys with three eyes that appear to relate to nothing in any of the multitude of Monster Manual.

A Beholder shows up for five seconds in one scene and that's kinda it. Also they namecheck some D&D spells in the most cringeworthy attempt at snappy dialogue ever
