Boyfriend has today off work (Good Friday, for you heathens out there) but I don't, so Lesser Dog and Greater Dog get to spend the day together. Lesser Dog (mine) is brand-new and she took a few days to get used to Greater Dog (his), but they're getting along fine right now, apparently. I got this picture a little while ago:

Mizuti posted:Spring's arrived in the northern hemisphere. Guess who's glad to hear that? I loved hearing birds sing in the woods early morning in Wisconsin. Back when I lived in Green Bay you could hear noises like this all morning if you lived out in the woods, which I did. I don't miss living out there in general, but if anything hearing birds singing like that is nostalgic to me. Speaking of songbirds, what's the name of that bird that sounds like it's singing the background notes from the instrumentals in Will Smith's Miami (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv_sXoT3e30)? I heard it in that video, it's like "twee tweeeeet". I love that bird.

Just went to visit the cat shelter, and thought I'd bring back some pictures for the new cute thread! Crackerjack is about to be fostered for a bit, so I thought I'd say hi. He was as enthused as ever. This is Olive, who I assume is called that because she's brownish and spherical Frank Porter was engaged in one of his favorite pastimes: looking ridiculous These guys are Dally and Baboo, and they are adorable goofs Rudyard is both massively handsome and handsomely massive This little guy is a stray that just came in, so he doesn't have a name yet. He does seem to be enjoying his new digs, though

A local cat rescue posted on Facebook that they had two 15-year-old male cats surrendered from a neglectful home, one boy orange and the other white. I commented that I wanted them (senior cats chillest cats), so they got them both to the vet for checkups. Turns out, the orange one was in such bad shape he had to be put down after a couple days living with a shelter employee, given the best couple days he probably ever had. I picked up the old white man, who the shelter called Grandpa so I named Pawpaw. When I got him, he was stiff and sore and barely leaving his box. After a week of loving and pettes and good food, he's now chirping, jumping up on couches to cuddle, and soaking up sunbeams in windowsills.

There should be something like Shazam for birds or something. I'd use it a lot. This is what I hear early in the morning when I'm out walking Charlie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcClseCep8k The really vocal bird you can hear that keeps changing its song is called a Mistle Thrush.
