So how long is the choker going to spend in jail? Because while the weirdo is clearly up to no good, he hasn't even touched anyone up to that point.

Probably none. In keeping with the forum title:
"Assault"
"At Common Law, an intentional act by one person that creates an apprehension in another of an imminent harmful or offensive contact.
An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. It is both a crime and a tort and, therefore, may result in either criminal or civil liability. Generally, the common law definition is the same in criminal and Tort Law. There is, however, an additional Criminal Law category of assault consisting of an attempted but unsuccessful Battery.
Statutory definitions of assault in the various jurisdictions throughout the United States are not substantially different from the common-law definition."

I think Bale did pretty alright. 3 big rear end movies. Household name status. I mean, I know he was an accomplished actor since he was 13 but I always thought Batman blew him up

I think in this case Val Kilmer is the exception since he has had a pretty middling career since Batman Forever. Everyone else, even Kevin Conroy, had a good career after their Batman tenure.

TBF, a lot of Kilmer's career problems are because of Kilmer, not because of Batman Forever.

As for Bale, I'm trying to think of a movie he was in that was bad or a bomb. Either he's just so good that he elevates every movie he's in, or he's savvy about which movies he does?

And before anyone says Reign of Fire, it did well money-wise and wasn't universally panned. A silly movie to be sure, but decent enough for what it was.

I guess what I was trying to say was that playing Batman pretty much dings everybody. Even Bale gets poo poo for the voice. It's not a career ender, but nobody says, "Did you see him in Batman? Really impressive!"

Movie-written Batman is a weak character, and he doesn't do anyone who plays him any favors.

True, loads of people are panning this but I think the one on the real receiving end of it is the director. I don't think he'll be put in charge of anything more complex than a whelk stall after this.

Michael Keaton's turn as Batman was such a career ender for him that he had to star in a super meta award-winning movie specifically about his futile efforts to move on from it, JUST to break out of its gravitational pull.

Dude's best movie for 20 years after Batman was loving Jack Frost.

Entirely depends on whether it makes money.

I'm sure other posters can talk your ear off about it, but for me the main problem was that the action scenes never had any stakes or really any reason for existing. Which is a shame, because they genuinely did look pretty cool in a power metal music video sort of way.

In addition to the action being boring due to lack of stakes, the entirety came off very exploitative. It's one of three movies I'm actually upset I wasted time watching even though it was free.

While the action sequences were glossy and the normal Zack Snyder affair..

My main problem with it, is that Snyder was going to the mat that this was a feminist movie, but it was so cruel.

Baby Doll's Mom and Sister dies. Step Dad tosses her into a corrupt mental institution, and takes all her assets (I believe this was after she also rebuffed his advances, I recall hand on thigh, but it's been a while since I've seen the movie.)

The institution has a bunch of sexual abuse going on with the patients and the staff.

Baby Doll escapes to the first fantasy realm. Which is.. a brothel, where she dances to attract patrons. They also say they're going to auction off her virginity to High Roller.

When she dances, she mentally escapes to those battle field fight scenes, or when she's collecting items for escape. To escape the brothel she needs to find The Fire, The Map and the knife. and save Zelda from Ganon. Who's probably the victim of sexual assault because Snyder.

While she works on escaping the brothel in Dream Level 1, In the real world, Baby Doll gets lobotomized. The dude who lobotomizes Baby Doll is found to have forged the head of the institution's signature, so she finally calls the police. He's caught trying to sexually assault the lobotomized Baby Doll. When the police come one of Baby Doll's friends takes her and they evade police. Because, the police for some reason and taking care of a lobotomized person is easy, and they go off on their own.. and the end credits is them back in the brothel doing another dance to "Love is the Drug."

Edit: Okay. It'd be garbage even if he didn't proclaim it to be a feminist film. That's just more like salt in the wound.

Nah see, it being exploitative was a commentary on the audience wanting films to be exploitative. :ironicat:

Sikhs are often the victims of hate crimes under the impression their Muslims. Consider that. "Muslim" is just a convenient label for "the enemy", the same as saying internment camps weren't racist because they were technically the result of animosity with Japan the nation.
