Getting Nathan's gun is only going to get things worse cause he can easily get a new one, and he can now tell a sad story about bullies kicking his poo poo in. And by the standard of this story, we already know that we won't be able to tell the police otherwise, especially given Nathan's broken face

A man who only just discovered how to talk to girls, gone mad with power? He's a mystery just waiting to be dunked. I know more than one genuinely nerdy dork that are still hits with the ladies. One of them I can't recall ever having had less than three girlfriends. And thus does the dunkee become the dunker. Frankly, considering all things, there's a level of catharsis in seeing Nathan Prescott brought low. I've seen mention about the long-term consequences of the beating being bad if we let Warren go ape, but with a family like the Prescotts one mark is the same as a thorough drubbing. So, really, I say get the gun, let Warren get his aggression out.

You missed a chance to dunk on Warren with his slate. Also, in my play through, I beat him up, I'd like to see if anything changes if you don't beat him up.

Yeah, choosing to not intervene will gently caress up Warren's life. He arguably has a defense of other claim but because he kept hitting Nathan after he was down that defense may no longer hold water. They should immediately go to the principal with the gun but because this is a video game and ~teens~ that probably won't happen.

While it could be the case, I doubt Nathan has an eating disorder. That's probably either supposed to be dexedrine (not so often used for weight loss as it is for ADHD) or some supplement that contains ephedrine or something similar. Possibly he's self-medicating to avoid his father finding out, abusing it (maybe after having had it prescribed to him), or trying to make meth. I thought it was sort-of significant that he didn't try to use the gun when he was let go, although knowing the game we probably shouldn't let him keep it. It's a tough choice.

While satisfying in the short term, allowing Warren to beat up Nathan will have bad long-term consequences. Nathan's grudge not only just got even more extreme, but he now has a credible way to strike at Max beyond just violence and threats. Him getting beaten up like this will definitely bring down the full force of his father and Principal Wells, and could even get him sympathy in the eyes of other more reasonable authority figures. On the other hand, it's satisfying in the short term! Stay out of it.

I don't know what the primary reason is for everyone voting for not intervening. Plenty of good reasons, for sure: Nathan had it coming, getting the gun away from him, letting Warren go ape, Nathan had it coming. Me, personally, I wouldn't let a friend get into the depths of poo poo Warren will get into with this. We're already knee-deep in poo poo anyway, what with Nathan being a friggin' psychotic. Warren, dunking necessity or no, is a good guy and someone I'd go out of my way to protect from expulsion/arrest/etc. It's all personal preference, of course.

No seriously, how is letting Warren beat on nathan going to end well at all? Even if Nathan did want to lie low there's no way nobody would not notice the state he's in, word would work its way up to the principal or his father, and then the biggest jerkass in town will be stopping at nothing to see that whoever did that would pay dearly. Plus Chloe alread has one stolen gun, if they investigated Nathan's and found a second one it would be really, REALLY bad. Plus Warren. He needs to be crushed like all nerds, but getting the Prescotts to come down on him hard and get sent to jail is not the right way. I don't know how beating up Nathan would end in anything but an early bad ending. I know you all want to see nathan get whats coming to him, but now's not the time. We gotta find some time rear end in a top hat way to do it and get off scott-free.

All of the bad consequences you people are talking about seem more likely if we don't let him keep going to the point where Nathan actually feels a bit of shame and doesn't get to keep the single most important piece of evidence that demonstrates Warren was justified.

All y'all talking about how Warren's hosed over with an assault charge if we don't stop him might be missing the part where he's already headbutted Nathan and kicked him a couple times. It's not like the game gives us the option to rewind time BEFORE that point, so if an assault charge is coming, it's coming either way.

Well if Nathan just takes a few licks he might not bother pressing charges, because there's nothing more embarrassing to a teenage guy than going to the cops because they lost a fight. Warren rearranging Nathan's face until he starts crying, though? No pride left, he's getting the lawyers.

So they apparently released a Japanese version of the game a few weeks ago. Here's the Japanese Episode 1 trailer. The only changes seem to be the voices - no super-kawaii-desu versions of Max and Chloe. It's not officially available outside of Japan, but if you want to play Life Is Strange: Weeaboo Edition, go to steam://install/425570 and it'll install the Japanese Language Pack, and then you can select Japanese voices in the settings.

The fact that there are completely new songs in the trailer is making me extremely curious about what music is in the Japanese version. Music licensing for stuff released in Japan can be weird and different so I'm SUPER CURIOUS if anything is changed or new

Yeah, I do quite like the Japanese voices - "Maxu!" "Kuroe!" The trailer is the same as the original launch trailer, including the music. The track at the end is Glass Walls by Nik Ammar, which doesn't appear in the game. I know at least the episode 5 trailer also used non-game music - Power to Progress by Darren and Steven Loveday. Not sure about the other ones. Surprise Pizza fucked around with this message at 21:06 on Mar 29, 2016 |

There's a Japanese Youtube LPer by the name of Otojya (弟者) who's been playing through Japanese version of Life Is Strange at quite the pace since release and is almost at the same point as this thread, with his latest video being up to Chloe and Max entering the boy's dorm to search Nathan's room. My Japanese isn't fantastic, but as far as I can tell all the voice acting's been great and the translation seems really loyal-- except for when it's been weirdly coy about Kate's video, always dropping the words porno or sex or making out from its transliterations of graffiti or characters' lines about it, and Chloe's weed in episode one also gets played off as just a normal cigarette. There are also, sadly, no tasty plasmas. The music tracks have all been the same as the original English so far, though. I won't link directly to the playlist because LP subforum rules hey, but you can find it by searching '【ADV】Otojya's「Life is Strange」【2BRO.】' if anyone's interested in hunting it down (though be wary of Youtube sidebar spoilers, as always).

So, metagame thinking here. It seems pretty clear that the question of "who has a gun" is going to be very important in the upcoming future, probably episode 5. There are numerous "important" decisions that revolve around determining who gets to own a gun. But that said, the one decision that seems to come up again, and again, and again, is whether CHLOE has a gun. You get a decision in the Junkyard. Then, if you get the gun away from her there, you get a chance to change your mind when raiding Frank's trailer. Then, if you skip that, here's ANOTHER chance to give Chloe a gun. When you have a bunch of decision points, all funneling towards one outcome (Chloe has a gun), it makes me think that Chloe having a gun is a SUPER bad idea, just because the game makes it so easy for her to have one. Again, and again. Unfortunately, it's a little late to go back to Frank's RV and let him keep the gun. So now, this decision point, regarding "Does Chloe have a gun?", is moot. I'm betting that Nathan or Frank having a gun probably doesn't mean jack poo poo. So, with that in mind, I'm guessing that the game designer's intended decision here was supposed to be, "Don't let Nathan get the full beating he needs to scare him off, but Chloe remains disarmed" or "Nathan gets beat up and scared off, but Chloe is rearmed". Narratively, I think it's bonkers to think that this would actually scare Nathan off, but think about it. Pretty much every decision so far has been mixed somehow. Something good, something bad. So in this decision, Nathan gets the gently caress beaten out of him, and Chloe gets a gun. Under the assumption that Chloe having a gun is bad news due to the funnel effect, that means Nathan getting the gently caress beaten out of him is supposed to be the GOOD thing, in terms of consequences. Given that the bad thing of Chloe having a gun has ALREADY HAPPENED, I don't see how that can make things worse. Unless this is a trap, and it's more a case of "vengeance is bad guys, REALLY" and everything about this particular choice is bad. But I can't remember any other choice in the game where every aspect of the choice was bad news...

I am pretty sure the do/don't kill Alternate Cripple Chloe was all bad outcomes. So could be an all bad choices . Also, you know, this could be a long term payoff v short term one.

I'm all for Warren kicking Nathan until candy comes out simply because it removes a gun from a mentally unbalanced teen who has already demonstrated horrible gun safety (i.e. waving it around and pulling it out with little provocation) and has used it to kill someone (albeit in an alternate possible timeline). Though Chloe having it is worrying too, considering she's almost as bad as Nathan in regards to treating guns like they're happy fun toys (and in two timelines started a fire and accidentally shot herself).
