Simrit fell into the reserve pit and got a bunch of heavy oil on him (think road tar). So the fellas had to take the clippers to him to get it all off of him.

Do any of you have any experience with flea collars? I've finally cleaned Roger of fleas I think (touch wood) after 6 months of unrelenting combing, dosing and spring cleaning every weekend, and I'd be super happy if he never got them again. On the other hand I'm reluctant to be continually dosing him with permethrin containing products, since although he has shown no adverse reaction yet, when it does go wrong permethrin really doesn't gently caress about. I though maybe a flea collar would be a bit of a middle ground? I know they are generality considered infective against an active infestation, but hopefully they could prove a sufficient deterrent to prevent a re-infestation if he ever meets another flea carrying dog again.

Flea collars are notoriously ineffective, just get a hardcore vet-only one like Nexgard

Trifexis and comfortis are great. Kill any flea within an hour of a bite i think? Never seen one on my dog. Its monthly but I usually just give it when I remember, every 2-3 months, maybe longer, and it's been fine. It's about $20 a pill +/- a bit depending on where you get it and how many you buy in advance There's some hoopla about them killing dogs and while I'm sure it might happen it doesn't seem that common considering all the animals that take it Suffice as to say no fleas is dope.
