The lights were all on me. I think I was sweating. I looked intensely at the chess board, trying to decide the next move. Everyone was watching me. I wasn't actually thinking of the chess game. I was remembering my father in this spot. I was in the audience. He had a grizzled frown on his face. His hair was unkempt and eyes blood shot. He nailed his line perfectly. He was in the audience today. It was time to make him proud. "I like chess," I said profoundly. The words felt powerful leaving my lips. A smirk slipped onto my face as the audience cheered and stood on their feet clapping. I saw my dad with a tear in his eye and slow clapping. The rush swept through me as every ounce of my training kept a straight face. My opponent stood across the table from me. He looked jealous, realizing how awesome I just nailed my line. "I like the cold war," he said. The crowd erupted. The curtain fell. The rest of the cast members came sprawling onto the stage hooping and hollering. I had 4 sets of hands on my back, patting me and shaking my hand. I stood up and bowed. "Who wants to smoke some dank nugs?" I said, pulling the pipe and grass out. It was time to :smoke a bowl:

I saw a musical production of Peer Gynt that remains one of the best theater productions I've ever seen. It was put on in a small theater space that is run by one of my all time favorite musicians, and we had tickets right by the stage.
