Dunno, that sounds like a whole new story to me.

Given they're working with more knowledge of Winds of Winter than we are, its probably safe to assume Doran bites it.

But that's essentially the problem here, is its called an adaptation for s reason.

The Dornish plot from the book is pretty sprawling and convoluted at points. It would be difficult at best to put it in the show. Instead the altered and moved on in a way that is consistent within the story they're telling.

Jews fleeing the Holocaust are not in any way comparable to North Africans, who don't flee genocide but want to enjoy the social welfare systems of Northern Europe.
Well, in the grand scheme of things Elaria and the Sand Snakes are going to replace Aegon/Arianne/Doran as the leaders of the "Southern Army" that is going to attack the Lannisters in King's Landing. But everything else in the story is cheapened to the point where the show has very little in common with the books.

I suppose the characters becoming ludicrous two-dimensional cliches was inevitable because of how much plot they had to compress, but it's still sad to see.

Did they have too? Like, seriously, do you think HBO would have turned them down if after season 5 or even better 4, D&D would have said "look, we have all this amazing material but 7/8 seasons won't work, we will probably need 10 or 11?".

Anyone think it was strange that Mel went to sleep after she dropped the glamour? I know in the books she says she never sleeps, is that a show thing as well? Maybe she's powering up for the level 5 Rez spell.

Obscure to all except those well-versed in Yuuzhan Vong lore.
This show really would have benefited from 12-14 episode seasons. Of course HBO would have never ponied up the money for that.

I thought they made an effort to demonstrate that the amulet does more than merely alter her appearance but is also a source of her vitality, she was moving around with visible effort and the such, going to bed was probably just a way to further demonstrate how old and weary she is without the amulet.

If you go by secondary sources (e.g. EW interview with VanHouten), it's probably because Mel's believe in her God is badly shaken by current events and therefore she stopped using his powers or his powers stopped functioning, which is why she looks like a raisin and has to sleep now.

Dude you're not actually arguing with anything anyone said.

All I said was the Ellaria was moved to the center of the dorne plot and turned into an antagonist due to Indira Varma's screen presence (and the way the light goes through her thin silken dresses and creates a delightful silhouette in the shape of her thigh gap, but I digress), you said she's a composite between Ellaria and Arianne and was rightly told in response that she has very little to do with either character and is actually more similar to Lady Nymeria or bloodthirsty Obara, that's all.

I do not question the fact that massive changes to the plot needed to be introduced in Dorne, I don't think that the show version is any good either but I agree that making changes was necessary.

Did Tristane know the Sand Snakes who turned up to kill him also killed his fiancé that he seemed to super love? 'cause he didn't really have much of a reaction about that.

I mean if they're not going to bother to characterise him at all, they might as well have just thrown a line in there about how "oh he fell off his boat and drowned instantly offscreen. Don't worry about it. Plotline ended."

Also a little confused about the Dornish guards who just stand there. Okay, they didn't react to the Prince or Areo Hotah being killed, sure, that means they work with the Sand Snakes and Ellaria. But they also didn't react when that one dude ran away, they just stood there impassively as Bad Pussy hurried to kill him before he got away.

I know the obvious answer is to try not to think about ANYTHING in the Sand Snake scenes, but like...what?

Yeah, this show is bad to the point now where I'm not intrigued by any of it(except maybe the wall and the walkers stuff) and I'm just watching to see where the plot goes since the books will never be finished.

Even with the Wall stuff it's stupid. Davos has just lost the guy he pledged his entire life and service to or whatever and we don't even see any effects of that. He's behind the door having witty banter with (VERY BAD MAN!!) Allister. What are they thinking?

The best part is I started watching it all optimistic, and didn't make it out of the previews without being reminded how dumb it is. I guess she's letting her guard down since things seem hosed? Stannis is gone, Jon is gone, she's old and tired and the flame ain't guiding her anymore. That's like the one thing that makes sense in this episode.

I mean she's obviously gonna resurrect Jon, but still.

naw my problem is that the dothraki in this episode had absolutely nothing to do except talk about how they wanted to trash Dany via sexual violence or just normal violence, until she claims she's an ex-khaleesi and the khal just seems to take her word for it. if he was aware of Khal Drogo's blonde wife then he should have recognized her right away, and if he wasn't then why does he believe her without hesitation? it's not racist, just lazy writing, the dothraki are real neat and they put so much work into fleshing out a culture and language for them and if Dany was kidnapped by Lannister soliders the writing would have been the exact same, rape and all. they managed to make the dothraki boring.

unless the Khal didn't really believe her and figured going to hang out with the rest of the dothraki crones was punishment enough, or he did immediately recognize her and was just playing games??? the real chess players are....the showrunners...

I'm pretty sure this is omitted in the show, the show just has Jorah telling her not to step into the flames to which she responds "I won't burn" or something like that, the book has the extended sequence where her blood riders tell her they won't serve her and tell her they need to take her to join the Dosh Khaleen, after which she gifts them Drogo's weapons and walks into the pyre.

Actually, yeah it was still right in front of King's Landing, they even have a shot of the ship with the castle as frame just before the assassination to make it crystal clear. My question is why would Jaime have left Trystane alone on the boat though? Wouldn't it have been better/safer to bring him along and put him in the castle? Even if Jaime doesn't think Trystane was involved in Myrcella's murder, it makes no sense to me that he would've been left on the boat even with someone guarding it.
