has rory fought anyone with as much reach and height as wonderboy? he beat diaz, but condit beat him and saffiedine/lawler had success in the feet.

i wouldn't be surprised to see him look for takedowns early to counteract Thompson's spinning poo poo, he seems like the type of fighter to take advantage and not get confused by it. I think i like him up to like -150.

also though who knows how he's going to look after that war, i cant believe he's only 26. feels like he's fought everyone at ww

Is it reasonable to assume Rory would have better luck with takedowns than Johny Hendricks?

Rory is a taller, longer, more disciplined and more technical striker with a different takedown style compared to Hendricks?

Rory never hid his head between Robbie's legs out of fear and fatness?

Would you consider Robbie to be a technically proficient striker? Because Hendricks beat Robbie in that department over 10 rounds. On that subject, Robbie was beating gently caress out of Rory until one of Rory's kicks wrapped around Robbie's guard. Also, I have seen nothing coming close to proving that Rory is a better mma wrestler than Hendricks.

I appear to be focussing on the wrong things. The most important aspect of MMA is actually the reach statistic on the tale of the tape. Move over Chad / johny, it's the conor / wonderboy era.

Yes but of a different style. Johny was totally baffled by Wonderboy's style and I don't think Rory will be, with his height and reach helping there.

I see Rory as being more versatile in the clinch than Johny and working strikes and takedowns from there.

Looking forward to this fight, it's pretty cool seeing how far they have both come since Wonderboy vs Matt Brown and Rory vs Ellenburger/Robbie 1 and seeing how it plays out.

I think if Hendricks was willing for the fight to mostly consist of him putting his head in Wonderboy's crotch up against the cage then he probably could've done it. I think by the time him or his corner realized that he couldn't hang with Wonderboy's reach and technique it was too late because he sustained so much damage.

Surprised by that ThugRose decision though.

I'm legit interested in this stuff because I run a warehouse that does one order per day and an order takes like 30 mins, so for the rest of the time I sit here playing games and browsing the net so I'd love to find a way to make money thats not 'answering surveys for 20 cents'. Do you have a write up of your techniques or should I just search your posts on the forum?

You arent gonna make money gambling, theres no system/technique other than watching the lines move and betting on big underdogs because they tend to be undervalued in MMA. Unless you are bankrolled to drop several thousand dollars on long shot bets and accept that you are going to lose a lot in the short term and maybe win a small amount in the long term its a bad idea

Almost all of his winnings in MMA this year are just from dropping 5k on Nate diaz for example. Before that he bet a thousand dollars on Dada5000 who didnt train for the fight and had a heart attack and died in the ring. If you are not the type of person who would bet $1000 on Dada5000 then dont consider trying to make money betting on MMA

Imo someone who likes watching fights and has strong opinions about who is gonna win betting on a fight to back up their viewpoint is cool. Betting because you erroneously think you can make a living on sports gambling is not as good, if i wanted to see someone lose their money doing that id just hang out at the race track, which I already do

if you participate in the goonweight grand prix thread you will find out how bad you are at predicting fight results without the risk. you can't really ever be sure who will win in a fight unless it's Jon Jones vs. Ovince St. Preux and even in that fight I would have been afraid for my money by how tired Jones looked.

this is a good example. I would have agreed Pettis is a great bet but then that fight happened and Edson Barboza kicked him so many times he turned into a member of the blue man group

fatherdog definitely called it and he also pointed out that Pettis could have an advantage over Barboza in catching him with a wild kick and Barboza's chin ain't the best, which it definitely ain't and I believe will keep him out of ever being champion, so -150 wasn't too bad of odds for me to go in. But that's getting away from my point which is gently caress Anthony Pettis.

The way to look at "pro" gambling is this: let's say you have an uncanny ability to spot a line that's favourable or you have such intricate knowledge of a sport that you can see profit where others don't, then you can potentially make money. However, you're only ever likely to be gaining a slight advantage, maybe a few percent.

For example, counting cards on blackjack might move you from being at a 1% disadvantage to the house to a 1% advantage. The casino can do well on such a small advantage because they're turning over millions, and a small percentage of a high volume is still a big number. But from an individual gambler's perspective, you have to be betting silly money to make a living from it. If you can beat a bookie's odds by gaining a 5% advantage, a regular $1000 bet might give you $50 profit (averaged out over many bets). So you'd need to be making $5,000 in bets a day to be generating any sort of income.

On top of all that, you have to deal with "gambler's ruin", which states that even with a completely fair, 50/50 bet, the person with the smaller bankroll will always end up losing (due to the streaking nature of probability).

tldr - gamble for fun, for a buzz, to make sports more interesting or just to pass the time. Don't gamble for a living unless you have massive disposable income, inside knowledge and the emotional stability to handle losing when you "shouldn't".

i had barboza in my parlay that won me a lot of money. the ferguson fight told me it would happen. barboza got kayoed and then proceeded to beat the holy poo poo out of ferguson moving backwards with some of the best boxing i've ever seen. he kicks at least as hard and well as pettis and everyone's known that forever. i assumed the x factor would be their boxing.

Barboza does his camps at Almeida's, but homerism aside I don't think it's too difficult an observation to see that Barboza's kicking game is at least as good as Pettis and his boxing is significantly better. In particular his defense has improved a lot under Mark Henry. His grappling may lag behind Pettis', but I didn't think it would be a factor in their actual fight and it turned out it wasn't.
