His insistence on Thugger's brilliance was a big part of why I made an effort to move past my initial resistance.

noz is cool but he's also super-bitter and seems to have fallen into kinda a trap of thinking street="authentic". he's also turned on a bunch of dudes hard who got well-known after he had originally championed them (kendrick, future to some extent, pretty much all the OF dudes). his year end singles lists are still pretty decent, and he's a good follow in general but dude seems to get almost no joy out of music at all sometimes.

However I don't think he doesn't like artists just cause he has some negative things to say about them, he wasn't so hot on Tpab but he still though "u" and "alright" were some of the best rap songs of the year. He's very critical so it gives off the impression that he takes artists for granted.

I dunno man, I agree with him that Kendrick has lost his focused, Future's 2016 run is a notch below his 2015 output and Earl is kind of last man standing in the odd future camp (Tyler isn't really interested in rap anymore). Actually I think Earl's last record was really unappreciated and if you are an introvert that album is basically for you.

Antequek posted:yeah I think he's going through depression and I've noticed that too but he definitely still loves earl, last year he talked about how he thought earl, future and thugger were the best rappers on 2015. He seems far more critical about dudes who actually "try" is the thing. And outside of YT, Starlito, and Keef (to some extent, he was kinda down on him when he was getting more notice after his second wave of singles) it just seems like since he does complain so much about poo poo if there is stuff he likes (which usually pops up on his year end lists) he'd actually mention those things. Like I really enjoy most of his writing but at times it's like he's just too bitter and jaded and retreats into only being positive about nostalgia and ignorance, and just being contrary just to be contrary. Besson posted:I dunno man, I agree with him that Kendrick has lost his focused, Future's 2016 run is a notch below his 2015 output and Earl is kind of last man standing in the odd future camp (Tyler isn't really interested in rap anymore). Again it's not that big of a deal really since he rarely writes anymore anyways but he's really gotten on some big "authenticity" kick where he seems to actively poo poo on anything by dudes who sound like they may have actually graduated high school. Which is fine if that's where your tastes lie, but he also couches it in qualitative judgments oftentimes without supporting them. Also I've kinda gotten bored of the generic thugger song much quicker than he's seemed to.
