Old Town Road to EGOT

I saw Com Truise and STRFKR tonight. I only went to see Com Truise because I didn't think I was familiar with STRFKR. Turns out I actually was familiar with some of their music, and they impressed me way more than Com Truise did. That was a nice surprise! They even had dancers come out in full astronaut suits complete with helmets, like it was a Flaming Lips show or something.

I know this has been asked before but I would like something a little more up to date: what are some good Spotify playlists of indie music that I can put on at work (ie. not full of loud noises/swear words)?

Wow, so glad for this thread introucing me to Julien Baker, she's fantastic.

Also, think Tancred is an artist that needs more love.

Just flopping around the internet and discovered this local band, Milk. Some serious gems on their first EP, found here: https://milkmilkmilk.bandcamp.com/album/late-bloomer-ep. Don't laugh in particular is amazing.

Teens of Denial is a great album and I'm glad that Amazon somehow missed/ignored the memo about the recall so I could own it on vinyl with the original Just What I Wanted / Not Just What I Needed.

Lucy Dacus is fantastic. I saw her live sometime in January having never heard of her and left that show thoroughly impressed. It's been nice to see such a positive reception to No Burden. If you haven't listened to it yet, rectify that now.

Starfucker is a really great act to catch. Glad you got to see em. They've been around a long time and were constantly mocked (and loved) on hipster runoff (rip).

They're like a more fun Passion Pit. Also, having seen Passion Pit twice, I can confirm that Starfucker also has a better stage setup and more exciting live presence.

Went to both the Montreal and Toronto shows for Courtney Barnett. I had lovely balcony seats for Toronto but I was able to get right up to the stage at Montreal. Am I weird for enjoying the live show more than her albums?

You were at Boston Calling too? Such a great set. Courtney Barnett also killed it there on Saturday for the brave crowd that dared stand in front of her stage that had turned into a brick oven from the heat.

Yeah, I was only able to attend the first night of Boston Calling but I had a blast. I went straight to the barricade in front of Sufjan's stage once doors opened and didn't regret my decision.

I hope for your sake that the weekend weather forecast changes in the next few days:

National Weather Service says 30% chance of rain Friday and 50% on Sunday. I'll take those odds. Only poor weather I've had at a GovBall was the aftermath of the tropical storm. Wasn't there for the monsoon, but I did lose a pair of Chucks to the mud. I've already grabbed a beater pair of sneakers from the thrift store just in case.

Saw Courtney Barnett last night, thoroughly enjoyed her set. I got pretty fixated on the animations up on the screen for some songs. This one from Small Poppies was great, and turned into some crazy trippy poo poo near the end with the colors changing and strobing lights hit it as she jamed out.

Edit>> Also, the amount of older people that showed up was staggering. I'm use to the 20-30 year old hipster crowd that shows up to the shows I like, this one had a noticeable amount of middle aged people show up and than leave half way through her set.

Nice, I did the same! Was on the front left side. There were a bunch of annoying teens behind me which made me fear the worst before the set started, but they were big fans and sang along with all the songs.
