It's funny and also awful, because the methodology lets single songs with repetitive unusual lyrics heavily skew things. Da Doo Ron Ron, Monday Monday, Pump Up The Jam, I'm Black and I'm Proud and the Thong Song jump out, but I see a dozen others. T.C. has a new favorite as of 20:39 on Jun 2, 2016 |

If the raw data were released, it'd be a simple matter to flatten the songs to only count each unique word once. It'd be much easier to see any actual trends, but it'd probably be really boring with each year being topped with something like love, money, baby, girl or something like that, though I'd expect swears to pop up in the latter decades due to relaxed broadcast rules

Well you could probably do some kind of statistical comparison between white income and black income for people with the same level of education working the same jobs, as well as comparing stuff like the % of high income jobs that are done by black people compared to the overall % of black people in the general population. But that all sounds like a lot of work and it would be a lot easier to just make something up and draw a blurry graph with a red line going up.
