Scalthus Prime There is little memory of what the surface of Scalthus once looked like. For millennia, the planet has been covered in an enormous structure: the primary stellar warehouse for the Cahonda sector. The storage spaces extend below, too, burrowing to the planet's core. Untold riches lie here, along with technology long forgotten, crated up for orders never shipped. Massive Titans roam the world, armed not with weapons of war but mighty forks, capable of moving entire city blocks worth of product. Millions of workers live within the structure, never knowing the sky, living only to ship, stock, and receive goods. Scalthus is key to the Imperium's operations here, for without it a thousand worlds would go without necessities. But like all worlds in the grim darkness of the fourty-first millenium, Scalthus knows war. The hideous Tau Empire has established an enclave on a distant corner of the warehouse world. Filthy xenos plunder the riches of Mankind, without even properly recording their movements. In desperation, the Scalthus Loss Prevention Authority has reached out to the Deathwatch. You, the mighty Space Marines of Honor-Bearer Squad, are the response. Your mission is simple. Land on the Warehouse World and exterminate the xenos. If you happen across any lost technology, tag it for the Adeptus Mechanicus to recover. The odds are stacked against you, but you are Space Marines. A death in battle would be a glorious end. Unbeknownst to you, the Deathwatch is hoping for just that. But for now, you orbit Scalthus in the battlecruiser Final Destination. You may have become acquainted on your flight here, or perhaps you kept to yourselves. But now you, the latest Honor-Bearer Squad, must plan your assault. Tactical data is available for you to review upon request. Or, you could simply drop pod down directly onto the enemy camp. The Deathwatch highly endorses this option, however now that you're on site you see it may be less practical than you were led to believe, for the enemy has constructed an array of interceptor guns around their base... It is up to you, Honor-Bearer, to save the Imperium, even at the cost of your own lives!

Arkantos The Minotaur in a dented Mark 8 Power Armor steps forward and turns to the squad, arrogantly assuming he would be the clear choice for squad leader. "Alright Battle-Brothers this looks pretty straightforward to me. We have drop pods and we have a clear target on the ground. We smash down there and slaughter everything that moves. These interceptor guns might complicate things but that's why you're lucky to have a squad captain like me, since I'm an expert in brutal drop pods assault. See, all we need to do is move here... and here" he says, pointing at the tactical map, giving obvious valuable advice. Tactics (Orbital Drop Procedures) vs 36: 1d100 47 code:

Vargus, The Ever-Building, Tech-marine of the Imperial Fists Chapter Vargus looks at the tactical read-out. "Oh, such a shame all those buildings are being destroyed. They should be reinforced to prevent such destruction." Before him was a little plastic model of a Predator tank, that he kept fiddling with, his hands un-armored so he can more easily manipulate the little pieces. He then looks at where the minotaur is pointing on the map. "It actually is not straight forward. Due to the curvature of the planet, the flight path would be more parabolic." He then uses some plastic pieces to mark different locations on the map. "Your chosen landing zones would put us too close to those Interceptor guns. These landing routes put us outside their optimum range, and use some of the large warehouses as cover." Vargus then turns back to the Predator, swapping out the sponson mounted guns for the third time in the last quarter hour. Zahariel "The Fist is right. We should consult all tactical information available to us and pursue the objective in a planned, systematic manner, not with reckless abandon. There is little glory to be gained from the Tau, and the collateral damage caused by a direct assault might lead to us doing the xenos' work for them, wrecking the Imperial stores we are here to protect." Technically true, if politely phrased to appease an reckless idiot. Of course, direct, unplanned assault might very well not work, but perhaps an appeal to doing the job properly would have more effect than one to fighting sensibly. Nerd out! Arkantos Arkantos stares at the markers Vargus puts on the map, trying hard not to be distracted by the Predator model in his hands. "Hmph. Looks like First Founding types are not cretins after all." he thinks to himself. "Oh yes, good eyes Brother Vargus." he says, kinda having to swallow his pride. "Well, let's go with this plan then." When Zahariel speaks up the Minotaur defends himself. "The Tau deserve a certain reckoning, thinking their technology superior to ours. Vargus, The Ever-Building, Tech-marine of the Imperial Fists Chapter "Thank you Minotaur. If there is one thing an Imperial Fist is good at it is defending a location. If there is a second it is dropping to a location from orbit, and then defending it. Speaking of, could we not land by one of the warehouses and fortify it? If properly fortified, even the Tau would have trouble defeating us. Though on the other hand, the Tau defenses would be an affront to Mankind, and what Imperial Fist would I be if they were allowed to stand? Oh yes, we should certainly attack their position. But I am not very knowledgeable on advanced assault tactics. Not our specialty you see." Vargus places the Predator near-by and puts his gloves back on. "What equipment do we have access to? Besides my standard Bolter I am afraid my Chapter did not send me here with much."

Arkantos Arkantos's thick-head cannot comprehend the logic. "Bah! And what better way to send the message than assaulting their position like true astartes? If it's casualties on our side you're worried about, we force the pathetic Scalthus's PDF to attack and distract them. Let them redeem themselves by their weakness in not containing this threat in the first place. "

Zahariel "To send the enemy a message, you would showcase the Imperium's weakest, and then attack them in an ill-planned, ineffectual way?" Zahariel chuckles. "I'm sure it would send a clear message indeed, but a message showcasing human weakness and foolishness at their worst seems like it would unduly favour the xeno, no?" Quietly, the studious marine wonders whether Minotaur geneseed actually came from bulls rather than the primarchs. Waci fucked around with this message at 06:37 on Jun 1, 2016 |

Sextus Impiricus the Blood Ravens Apothecary Instead of joining the lively discussion of tactics, Sextus ruminates on the Tau themselves. Xenos were not exactly his speciality, but he had picked up a few things when he had accidentally locked himself in that forbidden vault aboard the flagship and been forced to work together with that Eldar princess to escape. Oh, what an adventure that had been! He hadn't told anyone about it though, that sort of thing was very frowned upon. So yes, the Tau. Perhaps he could discern their fiendish plot upon this world. Lord Captain Brother Sergeant Enoch "NUKE DUKEMS" Dukovsky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvGMFBPDqmc As the members of Honor Bearer squad talk amongst themselves and exchange pleasantries, they hear very loud sounds reverberating through the Battlecruiser's gangways. The statues of saints seemingly to vibrate in tune with the bass, the brothers hear the heavy clanking of ceramite boots laden with heavy equipment, the sound of a giant chain swinging back and forth. Eventually what stands before them is a hilariously opulent caricature of a Space Marine. A Deathwatch Devastator in Mk.6 Corvus, with a "acquired" Mk.8 chest plate wearing 2 massives chains that partially obscure the ornamental Iron Skull embedded in the chestplate. Hanging from one is the Inquisitorial Rosette of the "Ordo Thuggus", made of Platinum and encrusted with Diamonds, although wear and tear has seen damaged parts of the rosette replaced with Eldar soulstones. The other is a gold plate that has an entire Warrant of Trade made out to "Enoch Dukovsky". Looking upon the Space Marine has him show up in your HUD as E. Dukovsky. Vox Speakers are mounted on the Devastators ammo backpack though they are no longer broadcasting the hard hitting music they were before. "Name's Nuke. Nuke Dukems. Let me know which one of you is taking the mantle of KILL TEAM LEADER" the cyborg marine says as he laughs a shrill metallic laugh He sizes up the rest of the group and says nothing...nothing at all for the next 20 minutes as he ponders the situation. Around the time the squad has gotten to intermingling with eachother and talking about their practices he speaks. "Why don't you just submit form FU-420 via the local administratum, have us all shipped to the tau encampment and then we come out of the shipping containers in full kit.
