Even after playing the last two levels to death Marrakesh just isn't clicking with me. It feels like disguises just can't get you around as much. Also some guard around back of the Members only area keeps spotting me through a solid wall and triggering whole groups of soldiers on me

I thought I found a nice safe spot to headshot the elusive target from, but got caught between two bodyguards while trying to escape and died. Dammit...

Painlessly killed the elusive target with a sniper rifle by climbing up the main tower then racing down to the curtained floor to dip behind as his goons ran up to search for me like a cartoon. Into the basement to delete any security footage and out the side door towards an escape boat. Didn't get SA because I forgot the target's body cannot be found  Even that seemed more complicated than it had to be. It appears you can shoot from outside of the church's walls from a few locations if you're just looking for the easiest way to do these.

Sniping targets in general is really kind of too easy but it is a good option for anyone that simply wants to finish these types of missions for suits or whatever. If I see the next one wandering around in the Marrakesh markets I might just do the same because there are a lot of excellent rooftop vantage points that could potentially make it no harder than a Where's Waldo book. With the right costume, most NPCs will straight up ignore the fact you have a giant rifle on your back even though they know that's how the target was murdered and are actively searching for you. You can also just walk around town without the problem of appearing visibly armed because people will be okay with it.

Dr_0ctag0n posted:

You can also shoot the virus with your silverballer from on top of the security trailer where the laptop is. If you aim it right you can shoot through the window without anyone noticing.

Thanks for pointing this out! I tried it from the cliff where the lone guard hangs out and it works just fine. Makes finishing that whole section of the level so much easier when on your way out if you want to just focus on the two main targets. You can even just sprint to the plane before they realize what happened.

I wonder if I accidentally'd his bodyguard earlier in the mission, because a random guard wandered into the mortuary and I shrugged and knocked him out and stole his clothes.

I like that we get 3 days instead of 2 for this one.

Done a bit of exploratory probing, and I think I've got my Silent Assassin run plotted out. But there's a part of me wondering what would happen if the guard who says GOD NO YOU CAN'T GO UP THE BELL TOWER YOU CRAZY BASTARD wasn't there to say that. Except I think getting rid of him without any fuss might be tougher than taking out the target. Anyone tried this route?

with the right disguise there's only one single guard in that whole church that can spot you so I think it would make clearing out the entire thing a lot easier than it should be if someone had the patience for it.

I do hope we get more elusive targets. Maybe daily would be pushing it, but once they've coded enough it could go on a rolling rota, maybe.

I'm busy all the rest of the week but I'll put aside an hour or so tonight for some Church based hijinks.

Yea I imagine the plan is to build up 8 or 10 elusive targets and then just continuously rotate them so there's one active pretty much every day or every other day.

This is the first one I hosed up. I took out the main bodyguard that was following him around successfully, and I thought I had the target vulnerable when he went into the church basement. I made an amateur mistake though and thought there was one less guard down there than there really was, so I took the target out and was turning to make my getaway when I got gunned down.

Junkenstein

I just wish that, if they're willing to go to the effort of creating custom hits that are only around for a couple of days, they'd make the same kind of 'official contracts' that are repayable.

Maybe that leak of Sapienza at night points towards this on an even bigger scale than a new NPC plonked into the world with a little bit of new dialogue, but that could just be wishful thinking.

EDIT

I think there's a good chance we'll eventually get another go at these, but all word from the devs so far, I believe, has been 'nope, that would go against the whole point of Elusive Targets'.

Even worse, you can't use the preorder duck in cameras etc so you have to unlock the "proper" remote bomb for that.

Where does everyone think the next elusive target will be? I'm guessing the club in Marrakesh. In the proper mission you only use it for the cameraman opportunity and it's fairly lightly guarded. They could lock it down a lot (possibly the area around it too) and hide the target there. It will be cool to see the level without protesters too. I wanna start thinking approaches for the next one. Marrakesh seems like the most sniper friendly mission.

I think there are many spots in the game that are designed specifically for the contracts/escalation/elusive aspects. In ep.3 there are like 40 loving ways to kill or poison in the market and both targets never leave their respective corners of the map with exception of the tunnel.

Seems like the challenges are harder to achieve. I've played ep3 for several hours and only got 3 official "assassination" challenges after killing the targets like 20 different ways. I found myself having to actually look at the challenges and reload saves just to get the achievements whereas most of the other levels I would just hit replay and eventually the challenges would present themselves more readily. I think it's because of the distance between the targets in this new map.

Honestly I burned out on it much faster than Paris or sapienza and the only reason I kept playing was to get the rat poison starting gear. I'll revisit the contracts and escalations before the next ep comes out though.

Silently assassinated, once again against the spirit of things by doing lots of recon runs first - in the end I went through the morgue, snagged a bodyguard suit, took out Suspicious Bodyguard on the way down to the crypt and dealt with the Cardinal on the way up again. And I finally found a use for the Sedative Poison! I slipped it into Normal Priest's wine to keep him out of the way, so he didn't round the corner while I was strangling someone.

If they changed it up so you only got one try at it whatever happened, I'd be completely hosed. But maybe if they did that they could keep the targets around until you took your shot, so you wouldn't lose out by taking a holiday.

I was able to get a pretty simple Silent Assassin, probably could have gotten Suit Only. I also entered through the mortuary but I just hung out in the back room. I used my coins to lure in everyone between the church and the back entrance. I knocked everyone out and left the bodies piled up in the morgue. Even got the cardinal to come in, never had to step out of the back room.

Dx12 still seems unbelievably broken in some aspects. It runs much smoother on my pc and adds like 20fps but in every map there are certain locations where if you aim with a pistol the game will glitch out into the "under the level" abyss and the character you were aiming at will vanish until you stop holding the aim button then everything returns to normal.

I've made quite a few blind ghost snipes though so it's not totally game breaking but wtf is up with that? Maybe that's how some of the NPCs can spot you through walls bc they are in that glitched state.

For Suit Only, do you have to start with the Sig Suit, or does it mean "suit you started with."

ie can I start as an AV Tech on Paris, nab the Fireworks remote, go down to the docks to grab a Sniper Rifle, sneak up on the Barge, light them, and then snipe both targets then? Or do I -have- to start with the Sig Suit?

Hell, what happens if I start with the Tux?

The city's default suit plus the Signature and Requiem suits work for suit only. Not the other available starting disguises.

I guess it's just a contracts/elusive targets thing. The fact that there's a challenge for it made me think that you could do it in the base map, but I guess they're designing challenges to encourage you to mess around with contracts more.

I really like how this system works. It rewards you in a way for pulling off the 'perfect' hit, like the old blood money days. But you don't actually use the points for anything, unlike blood money. You don't buy upgrades with cash. Instead you unlock them by completing objectives. And those objectives can be completed as part of a very low-score run, and its fine! That's fantastic design.

I really wish they would bring back the Blood Money modularized sniper rifle and the suitcase to carry it with. It kind of sucks your sniping options are limited to placed you can get an agency drop or else you have to sneak past tons of people.

Got a Silent Assassin for this target. It took a while, but I knocked out the priest and hid him in the room leading to the cellar, then knocked out the bodyguard as the cardinal entered the cellar and then strangled the cardinal on his way back upstairs and hid them all in that room.

Kind of a boring way to do it, but hey it's my first Silent Assassin rank for an Elusive Target since the previous times something always screwed up at the last minute.

The easiest way to get rid of the virus I have found is go to the morgue and wait for the scientist to show up, knock her out and she will have a "laptop dongle" item and key card. Grab them, steal the dead guy's clothes and head to the lab. On the roof of one of the underground buildings on the opposite side of the cave as the virus itself, there is a laptop that will let you remotely destroy the virus if you have the dongle.
