I have two questions about the lyrics to "rear end Man", the entrance music for Billy Gunn when he was performing as his "Mr. rear end" character. The song was both written and performed by Jim Johnston. For reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFZj6Fnq4G4 1. Is Johnston singing "A little tight one, can stop me from behind" or "Only a tight one, can stop me from behind". 2. One of the lyrics is "Your lies won't give away the truth of how I feel". What exactly do you think Jim Johnston meant by this? It's the only line in the song that isn't a direct reference to asses. For context here is the entire verse containing it: code:

That's because you aren't an rear end man.

An acceptable second. The only issue is how badly the censorship ruins all of New Jack's stuff on the network, and if the song looped you knew New Jack had been out there too long.

Right now my interpretation is that women actually don't like to stand behind Mr. rear end because his farts smell bad, but Mr. rear end is is denial and thinks they are just scared of seeing his rear end and getting too turned on. People try to tell him that and he's accusing them of lying. His rear end is very good, quite possibly the best ever, but he can't accept that even the best rear end has flaws. Some pretty deep character work, imo.

That match was pretty impressive but knowing what I do now about how Generico likes to lead people (including veterans) move by move through what he wants to do in the ring I'm thinking that probably had a lot to do with it

Nice catch. "Your eyes will give away the truth of how I feel" sounds right even though the lyric still doesn't make any sense.

I think it's pretty obvious that in a song where every line is about asses, he says rear end instead of eyes. Also the other line is "That's why the girls all walk behind me" not "don't walk behind me". Because you see, he loves asses, but he also has an rear end.

Were some of those lovely Chikara matches after he broke his rear end, too? If so that's a pretty good excuse. 123 Kid vs El Generico stands as the best match I've ever seen in person, that was fantastic. Re: entrance music, I'm big on chunky or fuzzy guitar riffs and stuff like that, so a lot of just generic rock ones really speak to me and make me want to drive my car or exercise to them though I know they're objectively not great entrance music necessarily in terms of popping a crowd or being recognizable or emblematic of a wrestler. Dan Severn - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sp7aGkiflwY Cody Rhodes' first which always made me thing of Severn's - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np0WFq0kXRo Hollywood Blondes - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4FAqqBFSYg Cactus Jack in Japan - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNpz2aebGBM I remember WWF used to use the riff from that last one in video packages. Very distinct memory of watching a clip of Razor kicking the poo poo out of Goldust backstage with that riff going. Non horse-noise version of the Horsemen themesong - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1viR3yrt9_I Dean Malenko's WCW theme belongs in the same conversations as Regal's theme. It's the sound of war loving coming for you. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w91-XNSpb5M That all being said, objectively Mitsuharu Misawa's theme is best. Especially the part at the end that sounds like a medley of 80's sitcom themes. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwSzkcvLdvE

He says as much in Undisputed, that between the differences in the ropes and the ring, and having to wear lifts because he was suddenly wrestling guys who were so much bigger than him (which is why the Liontamer became a Boston Crab like three weeks after he debuted, because otherwise he'd basically have to break a guy's neck in order to pull it off), he had a really difficult adjustment period.
