Bascially you should ignore the army strength preview against vamps if you have anything with vanguard deployment or any lord sniping ability whatsoever.

I am playing the Dwarf campaign on easy and the Greenskins are kicking my butt, so much so that my campaign is pretty much over.

Perhaps i made a mistake in convincing another Dwarf faction to join me, those 5-6 additional cities just made me spread thin, and the increasing chaos corruption made morale a problem. But the Greenskins just seem to have two armies for everyone i kill.

I was getting ready to warn you about your flanks. You're lucky the arachnarock came in through the middle instead of ruining your day on the left. If you're low level like i am when i do this quest, the starting Greatswords Gelt gets along with a single unit of spears to tank the hits is enough to take out the arachnarock while the orcs file towards you. I like placing my units on that left cliff.

Watching that Orc Commander rush ahead of his lines and get rained upon was great.

Do the campaing stuff, take Gunbad asap, maybe finish off the spears if they only have one city left, then go kill Grimgor.
I would recommend making a new army as soon as you feel comfortable making 1k less gold a turn.

I would also advise against any confederating or defensive pacts until the Greenskins and Grimgor are all dead.

Seriously, Grimgor alone is so tough and aggresive that you should never consider anything safe before he's dead and his faction is wiped out.

Haha yeah. Gelt was my second LL so I decided to try a little gimmick with his army. I had never done this quest battle before so the flanking was a complete surprise!

You handled it pretty well. But im really curious about what appears to be like 6 stacks of VC units surrounding you.

Skeletons regain anywhere from minor to full sentience depending on the magic used. Zombies regain none at all.

The steam workshop has been pretty good for this game.

I still need to find a way to beat chaos as bretonnia in campaign. Way too little armor piercing damage as bretonnia.

Brettonia are currently missing their Questing Knight unit that wields great weapons and is more heavily armoured then regular knights. I expect they will be added when Brettonia get officially included as a faction.

It'd make sense if the regular knights got armour piercing well, but only during their charge. If some dude with a particularly big sword can get through armour, then a lance carried by half a ton of armoured horse and knight thundering in at a full gallop should too.

I really like the skeleton animations, actually. Seems like a deliberate callout to those awesome stop-motion skeletons from cheap 1970s b-movies.

I like it thematically, too: zombies lurch and stagger like there's barely any magic in them, skeletons are synchronised because they're just a bunch of marionettes, Grave Guard march normally because they're somewhat aware of what's going on.

I think there's a mod to remove the skeleton marching animation, if you're totally inhuman.

Depends on what parts annoy you about the main game. For the most part Radious pretty much just seems to increase the number of armies you can have, and makes battles longer by giving everything more morale.

The modders idea of questing knights though are not that great
Weapon strength is 30, dam is 20, piercing dam is 10, and bonus vs large is 14.

It isn't enough to take on chaos knights or well anything chaos.

The guard hall definitely gives walls to the settlement you build it in. Recheck that or you're bugged, alternatively there's mods that gives walls from upgrading your settlement level.

You need a level 2 guard hall to get walls, which also requires a level 3 settlement.

I'm pretty sure all impact damage is armour piercing which is why chariots can be dangerous if you use them correctly.

You get walls when you upgrade your defences to level2, needing a level 3 settlement.

I really wish they would tweak the autoresolve formula bit. I'd want to fight most major offensive siege battles manually but I just feel like an idiot for doing that when autoresolve does it while suffering significantly less losses.

Ideally so would autoresolve always be just slightly less effective than doing it manually but I guess that's rather hard to tweak.

As someone else has already mentioned in the thread, when you finally defeat Chaos and get the peace event is a sweet sweet moment.

The sorry state of the world, seems I was mistaken and Chaos was very thorough, the only major cities still standing in the Empire are Altdorf and Nuln, everything else is smoking ruins. Now I only need to conquer/colonize ten more provinces, wipe out the remains of the Empire and kill the Dwarfs. With some luck, the Orcs will destroy the stunties first. God dammit, VC long campaing is long.

They also said that the AI was correct to use high HP units as meat shields, it just wasn't what players wanted. The AI is using those units to get fewer deaths in your army, but men are easier to replace than HP on a giant so people aren't happy with what would be proper play outside a campaign context.
