But.. KI is a street fighter mechanics game. It's always had 6 buttons and hitstop. The only thing it borrowed from MK was the window dressing stuff like fatalities/no mercies. And XBox exclusive is NR studios code for "gently caress the PC".

The last year I went to otakon(like 03-04 i think)they had KOF 98 playing on a big projector screen and a really long line of people were lining up for their turn. Every time someone lost a match they'd go to the back of the line/go somewhere else and this one Terry cosplayer went through like 20 or so people before finally getting eliminated.

Which con was it if you don't mind saying? I've always wanted to go back to one but my last otacon experience left me burnt out mostly just from IRL poo poo outside the convention; nobody had bothered to even book a hotel and figured we could just crash in the car overnight since we lived relatively close to baltimore. Real loving obvious protip: don't try sleeping in a car with 6 other people.

Ahem, in other news, there's a NeoGeo bundle at HIB again, which seems to be mostly(?) a repeat of a previous one -- no idea if there are new games, though. It's got KOF98 UM and 2002 UM for Steam and legal roms for a bunch of other games, so you don't feel bad about using fightcade.

youmacon is a good anime con and actually has some decent fighting game players show up most of the time since detroit players are thirsty as gently caress for matches be prepared to have all your friends say "lol sorry i don't want to get shot" when you recommend going to a detroit convention though because people are stupid
