He is getting better now, but as a puppy he was able to stuff an impossible amount of food into his face so fast.

Thats why I really love bullies. They will do anything to make you happy. loving anything. They have the energy to run and play, but also will totally be lazy as hell. Tycho is smart enough to be a stubborn rear end in a top hat sometimes, but he also learns his tricks and knows when we're serious about something. Downside: Holy poo poo do they get some separation anxiety sometimes. I had one eat through the wooden frame of a window to try and get out one time. That and its impossible to find a place to rent with one as you need to feed it babies to eat.

My dog is relatively smart: picks up on things quickly, and is a good problem solver. However, food > literally everything else.

I can put my dog's food down, go out the back door and around the house, go in through the front door and he still won't touch his food without permission. It's ridiculously easy to teach a dog not to touch their food without you saying so. Especially if they are food motivated.

I suppose it only works if your dog knows what it means when you dump food in their dish, but that's like 99.99999% of dogs so I am assuming it applies to yours as well. Here is how you do it: 1. Put food into your pup's dish 2. Stand by their usual eating spot with their food in your hands while you are standing there. (We will call this the "starting position") 3. Make Fido sit. (This also works really well as a way to teach your pup how to sit, lay, give you their paw, etc). Tell Fido to stay. 4. Begin to place the food on the ground where it usually goes. 5. If Fido budges from the sitting position, you return to the starting position. 6. Do that until Fido doesn't budge (or like 3 minutes, whichever comes first. Don't hold the food hostage because sometimes a dog is a dog and doesn't know wtf you are talking about -- this is the "learning" phase). It took me like three days for this to work.
