I agree that it's in the top 3, but you'd have a hard time arguing it's the best of them. It's entertaining, for sure, but it's easily my third favorite of the original cast. 2 and 6 are incredibly good. And through no coincidence, have the best villains of the entire movie series.

This episode was really validating because the Ghostbusters cartoon was a few years before my time and the way that people in my peer group and on the internet praise it as some kind of gem that totally holds up even as an adult has always been something I could never really get into. I guess from a historical perspective it's kind of cool that they did an episode on "Cathulu" in the time before Lovecraft was really overexposed?

There is some debate on whether Nemesis or Insurrection is the worst (I think Insurrection because it's far more boring and just feels like a bad two parter of the show, but I appear to be in the minority, and I can't really argue because Nemesis is really bad), but those three are by far the worst of the bunch. I mean, Generations is really really really bad, but at least you've got Malcolm McDowell and William Shatner doing something.

So, Jupin (and a few other local friends) liking the new Ghostbusters movie is convincing me to go see it in theatres. I was going to wait until it came out on Blu-Ray, but I suppose I can take a huge leap and go see it on Budget Movie Day.

Some of Chris Hemsworth's completely deadpan lines like "aquariums are submarines for fish" still crack me up when I remember them days later.

I'd even go as far to say it's OK to like or dislike movies, but it's not OK to wage online jihad against one, particularly pre-release. The backlash against Ghostbusters 2016 was alarmingly pre-emptive. It's so totally out of sync with anything else in Star Trek. I suppose you could split the difference and say Insurrection is a worse movie because being boring is a bigger cinematic sin while Nemesis is a worse Star Trek movie because it hates you for liking this stuff.

The Star Trek episode was good, but it was baffling to hear the whole gang taking shots at DS9. Especially as they have strong knowledge about Next Generation and the original series, it was weird they seemed to attack DS9 based on the space station premise without seeming to have watched the show. I wonder if the hosts were huge into Next Generation but didn't watch any of the following series, as they don't seem to mention Voyager or Enterprise. I mean it's fine to not like a show, but for Trek fans it's odd that it seems like they never watched one of the strongest series. I did like when they were discussing a worse version of Mos Eisley and Eric slipped in "Mos Epsa." That was a deep cut.

It's so drat boring. Nemesis is awful, but it's not boring. Usually.

On the other hand a quarter of the Insurrection review is just impressions about Quark being a massive sex offender.
