That game is a super weird experimental thing anyway, it's an open world Metroid style game complete with ability upgrades, and there's Sonic CD time travel on top of that. I thought it got very tedious with backtracking pretty quickly. The way Sonic controls really isn't made for the style of game.

I can't imagine any Sonic game more annoying than an exploration based Sonic game. CD nails it by having the exploration be an optional aspect while also still being optimized for speed play through. Even thinking about a Sonjc Metroidvania makes me PHYSICALLY ILL

How do you feel about remixes that feature new lyrics? I'm playing Sonic 2 HD on my Surface via Bluestacks and it's surprisingly good to play if you grip the tablet like a phone; the on-screen controls are large enough that I never miss a button press, plus the screen size is pleasingly huge.

Chrono Adventure was basically a huge experimental piece by the creator please don't take it as a quality indicator of his other work. Before/After the Sequel are super good. But yeah, I tried to play Chrono Adventure but it's just a little too weird and not that fun.

Unable to control my latest bout of Sonic ManiaTM, I decided to drop a couple bucks on the iPhone port of Sonic 2. Holy poo poo this feels good to play. It's so smooth. I don't think I could ever go back to the old versions of this game. This is literally the first time I have ever enjoyed playing a game using a virtual d-pad. I don't like removing characters- I'd rather gradually adjust them until they're good. SA's adjustment of Amy Rose is probably an OK example of that, in that the character is at least a little better. Boom's treatment of the same character shows the end result. Dark Brotherhood is like the only exception. The game's engine is tricky to copy, the design required is really demanding, and the fanbase is completely intolerable. A very small number of people have been able to completely finish a sonic-esque game project, be it a fangame or a commercial product, and not have it get torn to shreds. So Scott Fulop, who hasn't worked in years, founded a company like a month ago to trademark Mammoth Mogul, a character who was used up until the reboot, but not after that. And now he's decided to sue Archie for all the stuff they did in the past with his character. Because he and everyone else knows Archie has none of the original contracts (lost to an office fire) so they can say whatever they want about Archie ripping them off. The only thing I know about Mammoth Mogul from second-hand info is that he's immortal and at some point had the realization that he's immortal and Sonic the Hedgehog isn't so there's no reason he can't just wait until Sonic dies of old age and THEN take over the world. Which, to be fair, is a pretty good super-villain plan.
