My theory that I just made up right now is that they kidnap children from other settlements.

To kind of bring it back around to Paradox games without totally dropping the Fallout thing - I think it would be cool if Paradox and Obsidian did a team up for a new post-apocalyptic setting. I like Fallout but it's kind of the only game in town at the moment for its particular niche (I'm not counting Wasteland 2 because it's a classic isometric RPG rather than a shooter). Since the STALKER series died and the spiritual successor they're working on is taking forever, there really haven't been any more serious takes on post-apoc open world stuff (Metro is cool but not open world at all). My suggestion: Bring some of the After the End guys on board and build a full game out of that setting.

I still remember when STALKER got announced back in like 2003 or 2004 or so and I was so hyped. And then it came out and it was awesome. A Obsidian/Paradox team-up to do STALKER But Not 8 Years Old would be awesome.

Oh and earning lots of :10bux: is cool for Paradox. Now they can really get down to it and make Victoria 3 Rome II

A bit of an odd question but does anyone have a good summation to Kaiserreich and the general changes in the world? I wanted to explain it to a friend but I don't know about enough individual nations and story to explain it all.

Germany won World War I and thus supplanted Great Britain as the preeminent colonial power and also established, at the expense of Russia mainly, a large continental powerbase of puppets stretching out to the Brest Litovsk borders essentially. Austria-Hungary and the Ottomans survive but are still wracked by the same issues they had in the lead up to World War I.

Losing caused the Allied Powers to have a lot of problems. France and Britain had socialist revolutions and are the main enemies of Germany. Italy was split up by the Austrians and the southern half is socialist and the northern half is led by the Pope.

The third bloc is the exiled remnants of the Allied empires, led by Canada where the British king is in exile, also including a state built from French West Africa and Australia, among others. The third bloc is mainly opposed to the socialists that evicted them from their mother countries.

The United States is in an even deeper depression because its main trading partners turned socialist, and so they're teetering towards civil war. Japan is a great power much like they were in OTL, and they compete with Germany, a rump Russia and a rump Qing Empire.

There's a lot of other storylines between minor states but that's the gist so far as majors go.

this would be amazing. STALKER is such a great game. I did get a similar feeling playing DayZ before it got infested by hackers/cheaters though.

HOI is the slightly newer game but it doesn't really surprise me that Stellaris has fallen lower on current players. HOI just had a lot more meat to it on launch, if you're into HOI.

I just heard about the new CK2 expansion for the first time with Darkrenown's post and so I looked it up and... wow. No offense, but there's some real barrel scraping going on with this one. It just looks so inconsequential, you know? Like no major new features, just some occasional event stuff and that kind of thing.

Also... I mean like... just jesus christ

Reaper benchmarks are in, and the results speak for themselves. Well technically it's more like a 43% decrease in total run time for a complete 684 year game. So basically a 40% 78% increase in speed. Ya, it's pretty fast.

Yeah. They've touted major optimizations with practically every major patch but this is the first one where I've seen a lot of players bring it up as noticeable so I think it's a really good sign.

The black death is pretty drat important for this period. It depends on what you're looking for I guess but it doesn't seem like they're scraping the barrel to me, with this expansion anyway. It is also a cheap $10 one to be fair.
