In Baby Got Back, one of the lines is "Rumple-smooth-skin," you know, like Rumplestiltskin. I always just thought it was a weird phrase and didn't realize til a day or two ago it's a play on words.

It's also a reference to Parliament's song Rumpofsteelskin (rump o' smooth skin)

Initials (eg BC for Bill Cosby) are called that because they're the initial (first) letters of the name.

In the 90s song Novocaine For The Soul, the lyric is "Before I sputter out". I haven't listened to the song for the better part of two decades, plus or minus, but I thought it was "Before I sput her out". I knew 'sput' wasn't a word; I just figured the folks who wrote the song were making up words to be different.

Max von Sydow, not Donald Pleasence, played Father Merrin in The Exorcist. The video game Tactics Ogre has an exorcist named "Donnalto Pleasance" who looks like the Father Merrin character, and I don't know if that's a reference based on a misconception or what.

Even though I've always known the meaning of this sarcastic phrase, my whole life I always thought "Who died and made you [king/queen/boss]?" was alluding to someone dying and reincarnating into the other person instead of the other person just, you know, being next in line of whatever self-appointed position of authority.
