I'm digging the new Inquisition album, is their older work worth a go? I tried listening to one of their more recent albums a few years ago but the ridiculous frog vocals made it difficult to really get into.

The vocals are kinda obnoxious, but u listen to extreme metal already? It shouldn't be that hard to ignore them.

They're a lot cooler than many other black metal vocals.

They're maybe my favorite BM band ever, and they're very consistent. Also what crosby said.

Every Inquisition album is of the highest quality. The vocals are amazing - stop being a baby and embrace the demonic frog.

New Inquisition is sick nasty. I like all their stuff but felt on their last album (the 2013 one) that they were trying to sound more mainstream. This new album is way darker and atmospheric though. Felt like his less "froggy" sounding vocals were super good too.

So a friend bailed and I might have an extra ticket for Wolves in the Throne Room in NYC on September 11. Shot in the dark, I know, but are any of you interested in a ticket to see Wolves in the city on the 11th?

Have Downfall of Nur and Nağra been talked about in this thread yet? I may have posted about them before, but I don't remember and I'm too lazy to look back. In any case, I recommend both those bands. Nağra, Mare Cognitum, and Mesarthim probably have my top 3 AOTY right now (though god drat this new Alcest sounds so good, thanks for telling me it exists OH MY GOD NEIGE SCREAMING YES YES)

The new Alcest is really good, the end of Eclosion is beautiful and Onyx is amazing for what it is. Still some of the best harsh vocals around too.

Alcest's new album Kodama is pretty rad. I like most of the tracks but Oiseaux de Proie and Onyx are standouts. Neige has some more growls than in their last album pretty good stuff because his vocals are amazing.

Somehow, on November 18 we're getting new Antaeus and new Panphage. There's a sample track at the Antaeus interview link and the Panphage sample track on their bandcamp is tremendous. http://www.bardomethodology.com/articles/2016/10/08/antaeus-interview/ http://www.noevdia.com/news/ http://panphage.bandcamp.com/

Yeah he wasn't involved in this particular release for whatever reason. In addition to the CD release of Storm he is looking at a Vinyl release and CD release of Panphage / şul split. I found out Wulkanaz has a new album coming out as well. Tons of interesting releases of late.

Going by just the two available songs on here, it already kicks rear end in a way I haven't heard many other bm bands do. I particularly enjoy how punchy and savage the drum work is.
