I work in an industry that notoriously pays poorly (restaurants/fine dining) but even I managed to buy a house, have a retirement plan that I contribute to regularly, zero credit card debt, six months of expenses tucked away in a rainy-day account and a car for both my wife and I that are paid in full. The secrets to my success: live in a midwestern city with a good growth rate and low cost of living, not having kids, having a minimalist lifestyle, and smoking weed everyday. I am two steps above mouth-breathing retard but if I can do it so can you.
