I thought Alaska's reveal runway was just as good as Alyssa's, they both started as a floofy blob that unfolded into a clever second outfit (Lil' Poundcake and the camera/selfie outfit).

I would've put Phi Phi in the bottom, can't understand what earned her top two this week. I thought her acting was alright but worse than Alaska, Katya, and Detox. Phi Phi and Roxxxy's runways were two distinct but unremarkable looks, Detox's was cool but I agree there wasn't much of a transformation.

Alaska does seem like the clear front runner but I have a hard time deciding who else should be top two. I'd have put Roxxxy, Phi Phi, and Alyssa in the bottom and one of Katya and Detox on top with Alaska. Send Phi Phi or Roxxxy home.

The reveal at the end of the episode should make for some interesting drama with the final queens.

Todrick continues to deliver an impressively bland and uninteresting judge performance.

e: I love Katya but she really needs to step up her runway game, the latex look was fantastic but her last two have been pretty bad compared to the competition, even though Katya has been doing great in challenges.

I don't know what to think. On one hand, yeah, there is going to be some manipulation on the production's part. But, Phi Phi is still saying the things that she's saying. Katya and Alaska aren't. Roxxxy was the villain of her season, admitted she was wrong, and unless the producers have arbitrarily decided to edit her as genuinely reformed, and PhiPhi still as a bitch, then I don't get it. PhiPhi says that she only came on because the producers promised her a redemption edit, so maybe she openly said these bitchy things thinking that the producers had her back. Which, doesn't exactly make sense to me because she blamed RPDR on her almost quitting drag after her first season, but then at the same time said that it was a character for herself that she and Sharon came up with. Girl can't get her story straight.

Overall, I think PhiPhi is a very talented individual who suffers from a lot of insecurities. She has talked before about the abuse that she suffered by her father's hand growing up. I think she transforms her insecurities into aggression against those who she feels threaten her, and that while she can dish it, she certainly doesn't take criticism well. I think that she so genuinely believes that she is the victim, and is oblivious to the fact that a lot of her problems with drag race are of her own doing.

I hope she gets help.

Okay I just watched this week and I don't think Alyssa should have gone home, I think it should have been Roxxy. But whatever. I loved the reveal of the queens behind the mirror, that was fantastic. I expected them to come back and be a jury for the final 3 or something, but this is too early for that... so what the hell are they doing?

Yeah, maybe there's something about Roxxxy that isn't translating to the screen, but I'm not quite feeling her and never have been. All the queens have looks (the weakest would be Katya for this, IMO, but at least her looks usually consistent with a certain type of drag) and I'm not seeing what else Roxxxy is bringing. Amazing queen, but everyone is setting the standard high and her not so much.

I feel similarly about Roxxy. She always looks fantastic on the runway, but to me, she's always fallen flat in every other area. I would have picked her to go home this week, too. I knew when Alaska asked to borrow something of hers that she wouldn't have picked her. Also when she's out of drag, Roxxy looks like one of my brothers and it bothers me a lot and I can't get over it.

Honestly at this point I'm just waiting for them to crown Alaska. She's the only clear front runner, but things might change next week with the eliminated queens coming...back? Whatever is going to happen.

Katya was killing it on the runway until last week with that unfortunate look. And then this week, was that velvet? As hilarious as the makeup was, the dress was just awful.

I love Alaska. I think she deserves to win All Stars 2. But I think this just gives further proof to the theory that Ru typically knows who she wants to crown each season. It doesn't mean that she is fully committed to it.

I think she planned on having Chad Michaels win season 4, but after Sharon Needles became the absolute fan favorite to win, she felt she had to go that way. So, here comes All Stars designed for Chad to win. Raven probably should have won, but Ru wanted Chad.

I think the more obvious was season 7. I think going into season 7, Ru fully intended on crowning Kennedy Davenport. While talented, Kennedy was frequently overshadowed by other queens, and that's saying something given that it was the notorious season 7. And yet for the first half of the season, she was repeatedly put in the top and even won challenges that she should have gone home for. But after shaky win after shaky win, Ru realized that Kennedy wasn't cutting it, and was forced to eliminate her without making it obvious that she was floating through.

Again, Alaska is fantastic, and I think she deserves to win. But I feel like she is getting off light, at least based on the editing, she isn't being challenged by the judges like the other queens are.

And yeah, Todrick sucks.

what a humorous anecdote.
I think all stars 1 and season 4 were a bit different. Season 4 (as told by willam) was heavily skewed in Sharon's favor from the beginning via producer bullshit. But Ru wanted Chad, so he set up All Stars to have an excuse to give a crown to him.

Why isn't Alaska getting any decent confessionals? Seems like she has not had almost any screen time in the talking head segments. I don't get the sense that I know her personality as much this season, even though she's bringing it to the challenges and runway, and I think that's why.

I wasn't that impressed by PhiPhi's performance in the acting challenge, but I kinda hate most of the acting challenges and find it hard to pick who's best unless there's a really obvious standout like Bob in RuCo's Empire. This one was pretty boring and didn't have any standouts to me. I thought Detox or Katya would end up in the top with Alaska, not PhiPhi, and that's not just PhiPhi hate - I think she's really talented. I thought she would win that lipsync though, she sold it for me more than Alaska did. Was Alaska wearing mens' boots? WTF was that. Wouldn't Lil Poundcake have Mary Janes on at least?

A little bird told me (the little bird in question has a lot of expensive blond wigs, a rrrrrreal mean mouth and a book coming out) that Ginger was Ru's pony to win season 7, but the plan got changed up in a hurry once it became clear that Ginger was going to come across as a hateful viper on Untucked. Kennedy might have been #2 for awhile but yeah, what you said.

I'm glad the production seems to have learned some lessons from the hosed-out catastrophe that was season 7.

Because people on the internet are monsters and can't help but go after people who are 'mean' on tv. They get their feathers all ruffled and it's REAL easy to say bitchy and mean things on social media because they're really mad in a moment. There's also literally no consequences for them so. I'd personally like a big warning that has to appear before every episode of a reality TV show saying something along the lines of "Everything you see here is made up, everyone are effectively actors who are essentially playing characters who are versions of themselves that do not in any meaningful way reflect on who they are as people. Actors are not who they play on TV."

Now we all know that none of that is entirely true and that such a notice would never ever be allowed to happen, but that's kind of the only way I can imagine some people ever figuring out that reality TV is not real at this point.

EDIT: Also I have to say this is really the best season of RPDR ever. :3: This is what I dreamed of when All-Stars 1 came out: a season entirely filled with only the top talent, and allowed to show off that talent to the best of their abilities. Having to wait a good 4 to 6 weeks every season for the filler and mediocre queens to leave (at least one of which inevitably stays for at least 7 to 8 weeks because of their camera-grabbing abilities) is always the worst part of the show for me.

I completely agree. At this point, I'd be happy with any of the remaining queens winning (well... maybe not Roxxxy...). But this is Alaska's season to win.

I'm still secretly rooting for Detox, though.

I'd personally be OK even with a Roxxxy win. I absolutely couldn't stand her on Season 5, but I've actually been totally charmed by her ever since her burlesque number in the first episode, and all the weird toxic vibes she was giving off during S5 have vanished. Wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being one of the truly successful RuDemptions(TM) of AS2.

But it's true that she's still way outmatched by Alaska and a couple other queens.

There's a subset of Drag Race fans, mostly very young ones, who've gotten used to the presence of clearcut Villains, and descending on the scapegoat du jour's social media like a battalion of flying monkeys has become a key part of their enjoyment of the show.
