The only time the shopping experience will be more pleasant is right at opening or perhaps 20 minutes before the store closes on a Sunday afternoon. Otherwise it is like running a gauntlet of amazingly tempting deals interspersed with the most spaced-out and idiotic human beings you can imagine.

Since moving and ditching the car, we've been utilizing Google Express Costco every few months to stock up on our staples. I do miss the cheap milk and meats.. and the food court! We actually took the train the other weekend just to have lunch in the food court because I missed their frozen yogurt so much.

The strawberry sundaes in the food court are amazing. I still haven't tried the chicken Caesar salad, Italian sausage, turkey sandwich, or brisket sandwich because I'm always ordering a whole pizza when I'm not broke or getting a $1.50 hot dog combo when I am broke.

Their prices on eggs, milk, and bread are a lifesaver when you're seriously low on money. I've noticed the prices vary, and sometimes a carton of 18 eggs can be as low as 89¢. Living on French toast, grilled cheese, and cereal isn't too bad when you're broke.

I'll have to try that the next time I go. Usually I get a Polish sausage and a half and half yogurt, or as every single server instantly replies back "swirl".

I work about ten minutes from my Costco. I leave work at 8 PM and the store closes at 8:30, so I get there at 8:10, have 20 minutes to shop in peace and quiet, and there are no crowds or long checkout lines. It's the best. The only downside is no samples at that time. But unless I'm there at the moment they open, you can't pay me enough to shop at Costco on weekends or during lunchtime on weekdays.

The thing about weekends, and my Costco in particular, is that they have more registers open to handle the amount of customers. If I go during the week there's like 3 registers open for a still pretty sizable crowd. I don't mind weaving around the Muslim families rolling three generations deep and abusive mom's on weekends to get shorter check out lines.

So put your faith
in more than steel
People is people, and the shoppers at costco are no exception.

The "special" shopping experience comes into play interacting with staff.. I didn't realize it myself till I went back to a traditional grocer after a few costco runs in a row.

It's really torture for me now. Grocer cashes move soooooooo Oooo slow.

Yeah I always age discriminate when picking checkout lines. Double the age of the cashier, and add up the estimated age of all the customers in line and choose the one with the lowest score.

Is it normal for the staff to completely ignore simple questions like "where's the bathroom?" I'm used to Publix so the shopping experience at Costco is awful, but the food is cheap and excellent so I'll keep going back.

I had half of one of those salmon burgers for lunch. Not only are they good, they are massive.

Every Costco employee I've interacted with has been super helpful. One even let me take down a king size mattress (for my ultra expensive bedroom set, because I needed to max that card the same week I got it) and lay on it in the middle of the store to test the firmness.

It's the best value pizza in the country, the only place you can find rotisserie chicken and the 3-pack of bakery cookies are much better than Canada's. From Osaka you want the one in Amagasaki, the other two in the region are much further than they seem. Also, renew your membership here, it's the cheapest place I've found.

return basically anything at any time for pretty much any reason (except tvs/computers)

They'll ask for a reason at the return desk but it doesn't effect you getting a refund or not, just tell em it's nasty/you don't want it/it's haunted

Those are probably the only good things that Alabama has and you guys don't, then. I was in Foster City, CA a month ago and didn't notice what differences the Costco food court had (went back to my hotel room with a chicken bake and promptly fell asleep), but the McDonald's had Oreo frappes and I really wish we had those here. Plus, you know, the ocean, and people who aren't rednecks.

I was going to make stuffed bell peppers for dinner last night, and coincidentally the Costco deli had some ready to bake red and yellow stuffed peppers for about 11 bucks. There were three split in half, which was plenty to feed my little family of four (2 adults, 1 right year old, and a babby) with a small salad on the side. They were pretty drat tasty, too.

Made in house, ready to serve in 1 hour, cheap, and everyone thought they were delicious. Pick em up if you see em.

e: Love the cheap, good quality flannel shirts they're flogging right now, too.

We got Costco in Panama too. They have a very good selection but their best items are generally in the meats section. The quality of their beef is beyond anything I can find outside of specialty stores. If you haven't, try the Kirkland branded Nutella. It sells in a two pack for 1 buck more than a single jar of original nutella.

Non weekend crowd? We have three Costcos in less than a 100 Km radius and they are packed every single loving day. The weekends are worse but not because of the crowds, no. On weekends, the assholes only open half the registers.

Has anybody tried the Kirkland Protein bars? They come in a 2 pack of cookie dough and chocolate brownie.

I don't have a membership anymore because my family doesn't need to buy in bulk but I'd renew if they're any good.
I have been eating quest (those two flavors, even) but that's like a $5 a day habit.
I emailed/called to ask if they do specific samples but got no response/was put on hold and eventually hung up on so I'm putting faith in goons' taste buds.

They are essentially the same as Quest bars (I think I read somewhere that the Quest factory makes them for Costco). The cookie dough is better than the brownie IMO but both are tasty. Especially for half the price of Quest.

The supplier switched to some red pepper sauce, it's in the same looking bottle, the pineapple-habanero will hopefully be back in the summer. Picked up another two bottles when I saw they were not going to be getting more in anytime soon.

That Prosecco is ridiculously good for what it costs, like $7 a bottle or something.

My store finally got their fall deli stuff back in. The meatloaf and chicken pot pie are both really good and make multiple dinners each. Three good dinners for two for like $15 is an amazing deal.

Awesome! I think the cookie dough quest>>>brownie quest, but both are great compared to the dozen other brands I've tried so this should be perfect. Thank you for the info!

Good to know! I've tried all of quest and found double chocolate/chocolate brownie and cookie dough are my favorites so I've been eating two a day for a couple months and I still love 'em, I don't think food burnout is an issue for my weird babymouth that hates new things. And I so appreciate the offer but I think I'm gonna just take the plunge back into the costco cult to buy some :)
