Nope, not one.
I gave one to a friend though, and he never used it either :v:

It's just what you did really, a new game / thing would come out so you'd get 10 - 20 in stock, it all depended on what it was. I think the most of anything I ever got in was Resident Evil 2 and Gran Turismo 2

oh sorry, this was a good spaceship game that took place in space. It has nothing to do with Star Citizen.

Homeworld was a great series, unlike Squadron 42 which will turn out to be this decade's Plan 9 from Outer Space only completely devoid of soul.

We used to get sale or return on most peripherals so it was OK when stuff like that tanked.
There are a couple of things I would have liked to have kept, Resident Evil had this peripheral which was a revolver for a controller, they were cool and sell for decent money now, and I had like 15 of those, sold none.

I got out mid way through the Dreamcast, piracy was unbelievable then for the PS1 and the N64 never sold enough to keep things healthy. No one wanted a Dreamcast either because they were holding out for the PS2

Homeworld and Cata are both wonderful games. I love the atmosphere for both; HW in particular is the best example of doing wonderful things with relatively little that I'm aware of, and it's still lodged in my head after all these years. I might have to dig up the Art of Homeworld book because it's got a nice section on how they designed the very distinctive ships, which might be a good comparison with SC's grab bag of greebles and WWII components.

As an aside, the subject did not survive interrogation.

Just slap a Ryan Archer on top of some of Chris Foss' stuff, remove all color, and the design is done!

I love Chris Foss' art. If SC's ships came anywhere close to being that glorious mesh of colours and shapes and creativity that still form a coherent whole, I think CRoberts would renact that scene from Scanners. "You can have colours? In space? I simply cannot b-"

Also, basically, the Taiidan were styled after Peter Elson's designs and the Kushan along the lines of Ralph McQuarrie, though both designers point out that the Terran Trade Authority books in general were their starting points. Both fleets were designed by a seperate person, so the entire fleet has an over-arching style, but both are wildly different.

It's interesting because those garish colours seem like better camouflage than the greys that Star Citizen steals from star wars uses against the gas cloud filled buttocks of space

There's other good reasons for it, too. E:D's ships are all... functional, at best, with the exception of the Imperials and Sauds, but they're -your- ship. I really don't mind dropping a couple of pounds on a skin for a ship that I'm likely to be in for a while that'll make it more interesting to look at, and they've got a variety of flavours; military style, vibrant, some ships can be painted with a giant national flag (In the distant spacefuture?) if you so desire. It's a nice little microtransaction that doesn't seem to gouge out my wallet and makes the ships look and feel a bit more like it's owned rather than just some generic ship.

I wonder if Chris has even contemplated that, or does his extent of customisation go only as far as 'We need another minigun here to look good'? Sort of a serious question, actually, are they considering customisation at all?

e: If FDev gave us Foss style hazard stripes and checkerboards in garish colours, I'd be right there. Maybe some asymmetrical ship kits, too.

But at the same time Chris Roberts has very high standards and won't release anything horrible.

Who exactly do they believe is authorizing this crap to get out?

I had the pleasure of staying in Mihara, Japan, which is a small city about an hour South-East from Hiroshima, when I worked for Mitsubishi. It was a wonderful experience, but I never saw any of the weird odd weabboo poo poo, or things like this. There was *adult* manga in supermarkets and department stores in non segregated areas, but that was about it to the weirdness. They also had 5 gallon jugs of Sake, but finding a case of beer was difficult. It seemed like they shop everyday and don't do a lot of stuff in bulk. The restaurants also all had plastic food in the window so you could, uh, see your dish beforehand. Everyone was very friendly, but the bars were mostly dude only affairs. I saw a lot of businessmen crash their bikes and then decide they ought to ramen up before heading home. I had a great time! I speak a tiny bit of Japanese, so I got along great with everyone. They *really* appreciate the effort and it makes the trip great.
