9 is really great. The load times on battles are awful. And you can't store Trance like Limit Breaks. Those are pretty much the only downsides. The technical improvements in graphics and character models from 7 to 9 is pretty loving bonkers. (Sure they figured out how to make real character models in 8, but you gotta respect how seamless 9 felt) You gotta appreciate ANY game developer that transitioned from 2D games to 3D games with the grace that Nintendo and Squaresoft did.

FFIX is an amazing game, the moreso for the fact that in the long storied history of FF, it's the only main title that tried doing the throwback and it pulls it off perfectly

It sucks that the side characters become no bodies as their stories wrap up. I loved Freya and didn't like that she totally got shoved aside after Cleyra

something happened to the woff vita release its also really hard to buy digitally because for some reason its considered a CERO-Z release which is the japanese ESRB rating for a porno game so you have to jump through multiple authentication hoops to purchase it currently

And what a world it is too. They managed to make so many distinct places in the FFIX world without it feeling disjointed in the least. Even when you get to Terra which has its own weird aesthetic, it still gels with the rest of the game. I really should replay it sometime. I'm sure it's aged better than a lot of PSX JRPGs.
