To show how Titans are becoming outclassed. Once the coup happened the military was able to learn of a bunch of hidden technology and in a few weeks at most created several powerful anti titan weapons. At this point the mindless titans are not even really big threats anymore.

I think it actually is the case that Eren can't fully, properly use the coordinate. He didn't immediately gain the memories of the first king like the other members of the Reiss family did upon taking the power from Grisha.

It's worth remembering that part, about Eren and the memories of the first king. Even after the whole basement info dump, I think we will still have some late twist or surprise in the series using Eren and the memories which he still can't access.

And when Zeke ordered the titans to attack as a squad during the Castle battle, even the elite SC are taken out.

The Mindless ones are still hardly threats at this point.

Through natural geological processes, yes, but it wouldn't be too surprising if there is a way to create fuel through a titan power in a similar fashion to how a titan's hardening power created the walls. On second thought, though, the resource the Marley state is interested has been featured in this manga since the beginning: it's the same gas that powers the 3d gear.

Has the manga previously discussed how the 3d propellant is collected or manufactured?

It's more that the 3d gear gas doesn't seem flammable and is probably just magic co2. And if it is flammable then shooting it out of the 3d gear as is means they're pissing away this super important fuel in a comically inefficient way. It would be like if the 3d gear moved by shooting a high pressure stream of gasoline to create thrust.

It's basically magic but I appreciated the first volume try to give an explanation of how it works.

lets face it, 3dmg arent very realistic, there just isnt enough pressure energy in a small tank of gas to propel a 60-100kg human across a town. i mean, they were transferring gas from a storage container using a lil siphon. lets just retcon it and say it combusts the gas and uses the energy to power the cables (that itself uses up a shitload of energy) and throws out the byproducts as reaction mass

But I also don't think the author would overlook having every character be strapped to a bunch of compressed fuel tanks and not once have any of them explode or catch fire until after this reveal.

In the translation I read, it seemed like it was simple oil, just present on the island in amounts that would dwarf Saudi Arabia. Which I would prefer, myself. Though having magic steampunk gear like 3dm gear next to conventional ~1920s era tech would be very odd.

except, how would they know that this island would have a ridiculous amount of oil? did they prospect it 200 years ago? also, 3dmg are good against soft unarmored titans, but not really useful in a pitched battle against battalions of soldiers and tanks. maybe the anti-personnel 3dmg would be better at setting ambushes, but you're still going to be completely outnumbered by people on the ground using rifles

They also have rifles and powerful pistols of their own, remember. Also, the thunder stakes(?) would likely make short work of tanks as well if they devastate the armored titan so easily.

I'm guessing theyll upgrade their equipment once they storm bra's village aka their island army base.

I don't know anything about what the comic AoT is published in can get away with, nudity-wise, but there's still something vaguely dick-shaped between his legs, so I'm inclined to think Grisha's genitals are shadowed for censorship reasons, not bloodied and missing. Ultimately it doesn't matter either way because even if he was castrated it would just grow back once he became a titan like how all the shifters regain limbs and other extremities. This concludes my analysis of a dick in a manga.
