it's part of their strategy to stop carrying things that are popular for weeks at a time then start selling again to play an artificial demand game, because it works. observe yellow bag potstickers, hunter sausage, breakfast sandwiches. some of it is also because of lateral supply across stores in a region and sometimes just regional product shifts.

dude pushing almost 20 years there told me a lot about the mechanics, and it's all done for a reason

Costco is the place my girlfriend shops at while I go other places but then when I meet up with her later she starts her first sentence with "You're going to be really mad at me..." and it means I have to pay for a years worth of something and lug poo poo in from the car

They have exactly one (1) watch I've actually liked, but it's for women, which means it's reasonably sized at 38mm or so

Just passed the area where they sell desk chairs. All the husbands are sitting on the chairs playing on their phones or reading books (from the book aisle!!) as they wait for their spouses to shop.

Well, in Whoville they say - that his tiny hands grew three sizes that day.

KakerMix posted:

I unironically like Costco for the way they do business and treat their employees and tell their share holders to go gently caress themselves. Getting poo poo for cheap is a bonus, the way they do business and the quality of their products is the real draw for me. Retail done right.

Also I wish I didn't have empathy!

Actually the ultimate goal of Costco is to "reward our shareholders", which they do as the share price is hovering around $150.

Ask me about waking up at 3am to work at receiving in a Costco warehouse. Actually don't, I have to go to bed in half an hour.

According to their pledge thing on the inside of the stores shareholders are third on the list for importance.
I don't really care too much though, it's just Costco seems to do things right.
