Ultar, a Russian post black metal band, were formally known as Deafknife.

The vocals are a bit in the background which sounds weird but still really great song.

Saw Inquisition (with Rotting Christ, Mystifier and Schammasch) this week. Was not a fan of Bloodshed... (Invoking the Majestic Throne being one of my favourite BM releases) before seeing it performed live, but the show really made it click for me. Mystifier were also amazing (I have no idea who the new vocalist is but he did an excellent job).

This is very cool. Worth a listen.

I just stumbled across this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2rdRaRZZcQ and I really like it, especially the guitar tone and overall atmosphere. It's pretty different from the usual BM I listen to (Inquisition, Mgla, Alcest, Gorgoroth, Kvist for example) though, so any recommendations for similar stuff would be great, especially since they only had 2 demos.

Look into DSBM - Trist, Nyktalgia and Mortifera come to mind.

I'd stayed away from DSBM because of the theme, but Nyktalgia especially sound great so thanks.

Actually of the four mentioned, Trist is the only one I don't like much at first listen.

Wedrujacy Wiatr which was mentioned on the last page plays an atmospheric, depressive style. At least the first album. I haven't listened to the new one.

I don't listen too much DBSM but this channel on youtube will probably help you find all kinds of stuff.

Anyone dug into Bolzer's new album yet? I came away pretty disappointed in it on my first listen. None of the tracks have the immediacy of Aura or Soma. Maybe it'll get better with more listens.

E. Oh I guess it got discussed in the main metal thread, my bad.

Countess has some historical songs. I think on their new album they do a song about the Siege of Vienna.
