If I had to guess, it could be reducing the number of unnecessary requests the game makes to TCP/IP, reducing the amount or resources sent during each request, or some variation of. MoMA, I want you to consider this following analogy really carefully.

You are being smug about knowing someone that works at a Mcdonalds because you know when the new sandwiches are going to go on sale. To the common person the fact you knew a sandwich was going to go on sale before it went on sale means you have insider information. As hilarious as that sounds, given that Dec 8 is their 2.6 wide (not live) release, it's going to be hilarious if they close the year without including it.
