I thought the final segment was pretty good. Bayley vs alicia was fun for how short it was. The enzo stuff was dumb but entertaining. Pasty cruiserweight rules. Reigns vs Jericho was the only good match on the show so if you came for the wrestling feel free to skip the show. The mark vs titus match was super funny. Everything else was boring. Only really negative thing i have to say about the show was that i'm not too fond of how Owens is being written. He seems like a joke and so does the title.

Agreed but its super jarring when he's the first guy to have a lengthy run with a new title with a stupid name. Jericho's friendship is more prestigious than any title in the OP right now. Its wwe so at the end of the day i won't complain too much if match quality at ppvs is good.

I was ready to watch Raw tonight but right when it was about to come on, I realized there's nothing that had a chance to be compelling. So I played video games and watched porn instead.

I haven't watched wrestling in years, but something that I think would really shake things up and appeal to your modern audience: if they started doing stat tracking for wins and losses and something akin to "achievements". As it is right now, it's just "i'm the best, I get a shot at the champ" and that's that. I would really like it if there were tiers like in premiere league football, where every season the three teams with the best record move up a division, and the three with the worst record move down a division. There is still glory in winning a lower division, but you're always striving to move up. Wins and losses don't matter at all right now, and it would give wrestlers something to fight for other than just the titles. Fight for a chance to fight for the title. As it is, it's just lovely little feuds with no "oomph", and storylines like "if Rollins doesn't win the last six matches of the year, then he's bumped down from World to Intercontinental status for the next three months and has to fight his way back up".

Divisions have literally never worked to get people over who wouldn't have gotten over more with the same level of push but without them in place.

The only thing that works on getting someone over is a direction. Give a wrestler a purpose and people will probably get interested. No one on raw has any direction they just kind of do things.

The problem with stat tracking is that every wrestler would have a .500 record. Also, the already use the midcard titles to punish wrestlers IRL. I used to not watch Raw live, but watch all segments that interest me on youtube the day after instead. I haven't felt compelled to watch anything other than Goldberg and the Smackdown invasion in the last few months, even though some of my favorite wrestlers are on the Raw roster.

If Reigns got the Smackdown Treatment within 3 months he'd be every bit as over as WWE ever wanted.

That's the thing; you can cheat to win like AJ does, but AJ doesn't run away from fights. I think that's the product of having a face GM on Smackdown, AJ can't try and sweet talk favor with DB.

Hey now, no one is brought up from NXT without a plan! When Balor is ready, Triple H will pedigree the current champ and allow his NXT pet to win the title again. Then the next few months of RAW storylines will be feuds over who is the real Triple H anointed one, who likes Triple H the best, which one of them Triple H posed in the most photos with, which one of them can do the pedigree the best, etc. Triple H will not appear on any of these episodes.

Vince is handed the women's version of John Cena and then proceeds to completely ignore her to play with his busted Ric Flair and Eddie Guerrero action figures. I was a big fan of Sasha in NXT but she's been super exposed at being pretty mediocre without weeks of being able to put together the perfect match, and the entire "WE'RE MAKING HISTORY!" shtick is so heavy-handed it's kind of making me resent her. e: It reminds me of South Park's current arc where Cartman keeps trying to convince everyone his girlfriend is SUPER HILARIOUS but she never actually tells any jokes. But yeah, she's super smart. Sasha and Charolette ARE making history but I feel like there's much better people they could be doing this with; maybe they thought Snoop Dog's cousin and Ric Flair's daughter were the two most marketable. I just want to point out that the most recent Raw match wasn't really making any history, as Nikki and Carmella were already going to do a No DQ match. Adding Falls Count Anywhere doesn't make it that much more ground breaking. This new "history making match" isn't even making history either. Bayley and Sasha have already done a 30 Minute Iron Woman match for the WWE, albeit for NXT, and it was a main event match well before the Hell in a Cell match. You can argue that NXT doesn't count, or that they want to make sure as many people as possible see how progressive they are, but they really aren't making history anymore. It's not special anymore. It's the same two wrestlers doing their 500th match, with a lesser match stipulation than their Main Event Hell in a Cell match because gently caress giving opportunities to the other women in the roster. I get that not every woman on the roster can pull off big money matches, just like not every man can go for the Universal Title, but it's really damaging to the other 3 or 4 women on your roster if they never get a shot to show what they're capable of in a big match situation. Smackdown has done a lot to try and keep all of their women relevant, so seeing Sasha and Charlotte being the only two who matter on Raw is very frustrating.

I mean theres another telling thing about how the two divisions are being booked at the moment (not that this has always been the case in the last few months) but while Smackdowns womens divisions is entirely focused on feuds between the women involved with very little bleed over into the mens division, both raw segments last night were both about the love of men - Fox and Bayley were wrestling over Cedric's affections and Sasha and Charlotte was more about who Flair loves.
