Isn't it past time where we stop doing that? If a movie can show a car or train coming directly towards the audience without eliciting mass panic, then surely we can have a gun in a poster which isn't pointing akimbo?

It is pretty hosed up tonally and if you go in expecting a dark romance (which I guess is how they're marketing it?) or political allegory instead of a horror it works a lot better. Amanpour described it as "Donald Trump's second term" when I saw it. When I saw it I didn't know Jim Carrey was even in it and you might not either since his role is mostly a non-speaking one.
