Went down to my local game shop to scout it out and was pleasantly surprised. They multiples of every single Starter set/expansion and single ships. Also they have a huge gaming area and 2 tables set aside for X-wing. May not be amazing to you guys but this is a smallish rural town in Australia. Going to jump in next week when I finish off the last of the X-mas shopping for everyone else and I have a few questions. 1. Besides the starter set I am genetically obligated to get the Falcon. I am just trying to decide if it is better to get the standalone Falcon kit or the Hero's of the Republic kit. Will I be missing out on something if I get the Hero's set? 2. If I get the above is there any blister pack ships or single expansion you guys and gals would recommend to round my starting collection out? I know everyone says get what you find cool, but I find almost all of it cool. 3. I feel myself falling down a deep dark hole due to this thread.

Both the Falcon and Heroes of the Resistance have some very useful upgrades in them. I think if you're getting started you might want the extra T-70 X-wing, though.

But it's fine, it has the arguably better Poe. I'd recommend getting either a tie interceptor or imperial veterans so you can experience what imperials do best. Likewise for a K-wing, as much as it pains me to say it, to get a feel for what rebels do best (bombs, TLTs). I'm guessing you have the new starter set, but sadly you need the old one to get both Biggs and R2D2, which is the other thing rebels do best: damage mitigation.

The Australia Tax is real and painful. Core set is $65 at the local shop and $59 from others. From Amazon US it's $29 including basic shipping. Any other Aussie/Kiwi in the thread to give recommendations where to buy from? I'm going to buy bits and pieces from the local shop to support it but it's just silly to buy a majority of the stuff at what works out to be 2x the price.

I played again with my double YTs. I upgraded the Smuggler with a sympathizer, and dropped the hull and shield mods (and downgraded the pointless Luke to gunner). I was playing against the same A-swarm (Jake and 4 generics). The first game on turn 3, Jake boosted, and I K-turned right behind Jake and blew him away in one shot. My opponent conceded right after that. If they hadn't boosted I would have crashed and not gotten that shot. Second game was quite a bit closer, but I ended up winning with Rey destroyed and the sympathizer at 4 hull left. I also managed to lay down the cargo better this time, right behind one of the wings making it go over. (No damage, but gave them stress at least). Captain Rex + Gunner is a very powerful combo. I can either hit and likely do a little damage, or miss and with focus on a second shot and have a good chance of having 3-4 dice of hits. Went down to the local shop and a guy offered to let me borrow some stuff to play. Came home and pulled the trigger. I ordered TFA Starter Millennium Falcon Expansion Pack TIE Defender Expansion Pack Rebel Aces Expansion Pack A-Wing Expansion Pack Could not find a star viper that Amazon would ship to AU for some weird reason. I'll just pick that up at the shop when I grab a U-wing next week. also going to try to source a C-3P0 Plan on building something along this line from the world series. Besides C-3P0 it is a really cheap setup compared to others and it has the Falcon which is a must have for me to start out with. Oh man are people salty about the 20-point elite generic Striker. They can't run five with Crack Shot so apparently it's garbage? Edit: The Upsilon can use Pattern Analyzer or Primed Thrusters + Expert Handling to stop, then barrel roll. It can clear the stress the next turn with inspiring recruits, and do it again. It can move like a ship from an old-school arcade game. Like Galaga or something. It kinda shuffles back and forth, dropping down slowly, before speeding off on some direction. The scout is still OP, in that it's going to really limit future design space. And the Oopsie generic is fine. I'm going to be enjoying it a lot.
