I don't normally post about the foster kitties I take in here, but this one happens to be especially adorable. Her name is Cherokee and she came to us with a really horrible upper respiratory infection, but she's getting better quickly and decided to play today!     And finally, the catitude:  We've got her for another couple of weeks, she's a really good one! One of my youngest cousins is getting married this spring. In late 98/early 99 i tried to be the cool, older cousin and play the pokemon card game with him cuz he was SUPER into it, as most 9 year olds were, and i used to joke and tell him i was only doing it for a pikachu card. Today i hauled out my acoustic guitar that i hadnt touched in the better part of a decade. When i opened the pick case inside the guitars case i found a present he had left for me:   And on a related note; I got together with another cousin, who i had grown up with like siblings, a few months back. He briefed his kids ahead of time on my transition, his oldest was thrilled to hear she had a "new" aunt, his youngest is like 2 and doesnt really care either way. I asked his 7 year old son, whos named after me, if his dad had explained everything to him:  so your dad explained how i used to be your uncle and now im your aunt, right? yep You got any questions? nope are you suuuuure? Im sure. It doesnt sound very complicated. Wanna watch race car videos on youtube?

Yeah that sort of age is perfect for "coming out" to in any regard. Old enough to understand the concepts, too young for them to be influenced by sociatal prejudice. Like my son was 8 when I told him both I was at the time dating a trans man, and that I'm poly. His reactions to each explanation: "Okay, that makes sense. Anyways, about this thing I saw in Minecraft..."
