Also, why would it lens your exhaust unless it's on the other side of the black hole.

To be fair it's really fun to bumble around in a Sidewinder doing odd jobs and finding the odd upgrade and being blown up for parking wrong until you get the hang of the game. If you try and sprint to the end game you'll have a bad time as the end game doesn't exist.

Until then I guess this question has to remain unsolved!

No I quite enjoy flying spaceships and I enjoy when there's an exploit to allow me to try new and different things in a reasonable amount of time such that my perspective doesn't get warped to the point where I'm throwing around car ownership idioms in defence of blistering grinds.

Yeah, the location of the hole is a bit too obtuse in that picture to really show anything, but if you could find a good showing of exhaust seen through the effect, that would be neat.

Since this bothered me somewhat, I made a recording of my own engine glow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrQTYNyroKg So, I think that trail can get bend by a black hole. Of course this video also in fact proves the galaxy is beige out here at Colonia. So my dumb picture looks to be really just the galaxy getting twirled up behind my exhaust, oops! But really, the next time I visit a massive black hole like my last one, I'll make really goddamn sure I have documentation for every claim I make. Seriously, run through the tutorials (they're proper tutorials now) for the basics, and then for some fun early earnings you can head to a RES (resource extraction site) and follow the cops around and help them to kill bad guys for some bounties. This is a little dated now, but should give some ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLsHmTe-4MU&t=1s

Admiral Joeslop posted:I bought this game on a whim, what do I do? This guy has a good channel on stuff to do in the early game and how to build a narrative in your head to care about any of it. They are pretty dated now, so there is a lot more content not covered and new mechanics, but for just general "flying my spaceship" stuff, he dabbles in a bit of everything. The tutorial missions are supposedly well done now, with scripting and voice acting and everything. Finish all of them except the combat tutorial (only Cmdr JamesTK ever beat it) and do whatever sounds fun. Try to have a couple of goals you can chip at so you don't pigeon hole yourself into a single grind. Maybe try to get rank for a Sol permit while saving up for a Diamondback Scout. Do smuggling missions around the starter systems while trying to gain rank with a certain faction. Get on Discord. Other people make the game much more fun, so find some goons and hop in a res to shoot stuff. They will also explain what all of that means! Do not take any missions to Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centauri.

I've never understood "pubbie / ganker" talk becaus, playing online and generally flying around populated areas, I rarely see players at all. If I'm lucky I'll see a player docked at a station. I used to see a few players in RES back when that was the best way to make money, but I don't think I've ever seen a player outside of a station since then. I'd love to annoy pubbies, get interdicted by players, etc, but it never happens!
