I felt like this about The Fault in Our Stars. I decided against it but it totally seems like a movie to get drunk and cry at.

Sometimes you forget for a minute how good Meryl Streep is, then you see a reel like this and you remember and it kind of blows you away.

Look whatever your personal politics or beliefs, when Meryl Streep takes a moment to call you out on being a giant sack of poo poo it's time to reevaluate your life.

She's given so many acceptance speeches in her career there's not really anyone else to thank so you gotta fill up the time somehow.

Meryl Streep is America's answer to "Anthony Hopkins." Who else would you put on "God tier" living actor?

Chris Pratt is the best.

Hell or High Water is so good and Ben Foster blew me away. Also it's a movie where Chris Pine is really good, so that's a rarity.

Chris Pine gives the 4th best performance in Hell or High Water and he's still really great in it. Just not as good as Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, or Diner Lady.

Good Soldier Svejk posted:Meryl Streep is America's answer to "Anthony Hopkins." Robert DeNiro is pretty goddamn amazing. I often wonder how many more incredible films he would have made in the last 20 years if he hadn't just suddenly stopped making films entirely after the flawed but enjoyable Ronin.

If you're making tier lists just remember DDL is above whatever you put at the top.

De Niro can't be on the list because he'd done nothing but trash his legacy for years at this point.

Good Soldier Svejk posted:I nearly forgot Tom Hanks. He's got to be on that somewhere. He's right below the ones I named because he's made some questionable choices in recent years. Streep, DDL, and Denzel are special because they just don't really do bad movies. Hanks has done three Dan Brown films and that's just not right. He also thought Cloud Atlas was a good idea.
