in nioh, developer placed revenants are alive and being murdered by enemies your first time through the level a dude barely halfway into the gmae is at level 100 and killing yokai in like 2 hits so now i feel like a dumbass chipping away at beta monsters at level like 15 or whatever Real hurthling! fucked around with this message at 23:26 on Jan 18, 2017 |

I know this is slightly off topic, but are any of the DS3 clones worth a poo poo? I bought a used PS3 to play Nier but the controller that came with it is pretty worn out.

Also the levels are too small and having to play them over and over to unlock stuff is kind of outdated. Yes, there are still games that do this but they usually mix things up on repeat visits. I don't like the controls, especially in conjunction with the camera issues but that's a matter of opinion. IMO the real measure of a retro game is whether it would still be played today if you take the main characters out and replace them with something completely different while changing nothing out. Much like Mario Bros, I don't think people would still be playing M64 today if it weren't a Mario game. Stuff like Mario Kart, Super Metroid, Smash Brothers, etc are super fun by any measure and would likely be popular with different characters, but it's hard to see M64 in that category.

My DS4 sticks are all falling apart and it's time to replace them. Is there a consensus on the best replacements to get? I see a bunch on Amazon, some rubber, some aluminum, but all seem to have mixed reviews. Is there a clear standout for one that doesn't suck and won't fall apart again?

i bought kontrol freaks stick cappers, unless your sticks are literally going to break off the controller i think they're fine. i actually got some of the stick extenders for better FPS aiming and they're pretty decent for that, but the CQC is just a cap with a grip on it.

Mario 64 should get maybe a little credit for being the first good 3D platformer ever? That's not a small feat. It came up with so many control innovations that we take for granted now. Yeah the camera controls suck these days, but it had camera controls. It singlehandedly proved why analog sticks are required for 3D games. I vividly remember running around in the starting area in front of Peach's Castle and being amazed at how Mario controlled.
