The best additions to MM 3D are the aesthetic ones, and not necessarily graphic wise because I know some people think it's too bright but the new context they put on walls and previously barren areas. Graffiti in the Bomber's Hideout, charts and poo poo in the bomb shop and the laboratory at the cape. There's even a volume of...something hidden underneath the bed of the fisherman at his hut and it's either a comic book or straight up pornography. It could just be a regular old book I'll admit, this is E for Everyone after all. But again this is the NPC that specifically asks you to get him a picture of a pirate in order to progress through the game.

It's the most in need of a remake with some QOL upgrades. I really wonder why they didn't fix some of that stuff in the DX version, just the screen warping glitch.

That sounds pretty awesome, but I'm hoping that those side quests are actually cool and unique and not just "get me 5 apples" from a random NPC. Weird characters and their stories are one of the best parts of every Zelda game, and it'd be a shame to have them be lost in a sea of fetch quests for a stronger bow.
It's weird to live in a world where I don't really know what to expect from a Zelda game because it's too different.

Did the 3DS dumb it down or something? I dont get people complaining that the time constraint makes it too hard. You can permanently slow down time to half speed, and even without that 3 days is plenty of time to get through a single temple.

I want the Zelda version of the Witcher 3 basically. I want wall to wall quests packed into that space but yeah, not going to happen.

I am about 25 hours in, so maybe 1/3 of the way through and so far I really enjoy the overall art design of the world and characters. The environmental design is also cool, you end up revisiting areas (which people dislike) but you explore different sections of those areas using new tools to open up more of it. The music is really great at setting the tone, it's like I am playing a Disney movie at some points. And I think the whole idea that you're following Zelda as seeing what she's been accomplishing is an interesting twist on the traditional LoZ story arch. I really am excited to see how these kinds of developments in the series transfer over to Breath of the Wild.

I'd still rather play SS than TP or OoT ever again. SS at least had some neat puzzles and interesting locals/concepts. Everything in TP feels drab and lifeless in a way I can't really put my finger on.

Not to mention SS has the best side cast/NPCs in any non-WW style Zelda game. Also the best final boss fight that isn't WW Ganon. And the best Zelda that isn't Tetra. Honestly the only really aggressively bad thing about the game is that it's the most Nintendo Game that ever Nintendoed and will hold your hand so tight you feel like you're constantly interrupted.

I will say that the actual songs you "learn" in the game are lame as hell. The atmospheric soundtrack is great. Those songs sound like someone mumbling. I can't pick out any specific notes and they aren't catchy at all compared to songs in other Zelda games. Why the hell does the song of the hero sound like someone humming quietly in the corner?

They showed off the acquisition of a side quest in one of the Treehouse videos (at least, that's where I think it was). I'll spoiler it just in case. There was an old man outside of one the stables. When Link spoke with him, he talked about how the royal family had white horses and that a pure white horse was spotted in a specific region of the world, and how amazing that it could be a descendant of a royal family horse. He asked Link to tame it, register it at the stable, and then speak with him. After accepting, the game indicated something along the lines of "Side Quest Accepted", so I'm imagining there will be a UI in game for managing side quests.

They appear to just be "Find the Korok" So basically just a reward for exploring random locations that do not necessarily have a bigger reason to get to, like I think the ones we saw in the Plateau included getting to the top of the Temple of Time and Diving into a conspicuous circle in a lake.

Nintendo: hmm...we built this huge open world but it's empty. Is that what they mean about "it doesn't matter how big the world is, what matters is that there are things to do?"

Nintendo: well, we created a huge poo poo world. Let's just add 900 things to do all over so people think it's not totally empty.

Nerds eat it up.

Seriously, though. That's a bad sign. 900 of the same basic thing is not fun or useful in any way.

Is this a bad thing??? It just looks like story cutscenes you find. I think treating the backstory like a collectable would be a pretty cool concept

Also, providing a little reward for exploring out-of-the-way spots is nice! But it's true that 900 of them seems like a lot...

I think you're just supposed to wander around and casually find Koroks as you explore. They probably put in so many so you'd be sure to find plenty. If you think finding all 900 things is too tedious and unfun, you don't have to find them all, just pick up the ones that are in your path while you're dicking around the overworld.
