For the boots that don't know, when you enlisted you ACTUALLY enlisted for 8 years. After you get out of active duty the rest of those 8 years are spent in the individual ready reserve. When you heard stories about stop loss in Iraq, this is why. Say you enlist under a four year contract. Four years later is you End of Active Service. Eight years after initial enlistment is your End Of Active Service. So if you are celebrating the fact that you got your DD 214 yesterday don't start sucking your own dick quite yet, Uncle Sam can and will deep dick you one more time if he wants to. You'd be amazed at how many tactical nukes we have in the arsenal. If we really wanna go lobbing tactical bombs around for "limited" nuclear warfare we're gonna need much much better guidance packages on the B-61 and the B-83. Dial a yield is great but GPS/INS/Laser guidance needs to be integrated into the weapons. Missing by several hundred yards won't matter against soft targets, but anything hardened or deeply buried is gonna need direct hits and probably also maximum yield (345KT for the B-61 and 1.25MT for the B-83). Limited nuclear war is a goddamned pipe dream. Read Command And Control sometime. It's very eye opening on the topic of our nuclear arsenal. The universal and instantaneous condemnation from all nations in the UN is almost guaranteed if we employ nukes, anywhere. It's a goddamned pipe dream. The blowback is too great. Pipe dream. Crack Pipe dream.
