Yes. And no.

It has the same rando coop as Dark Souls, but also a mode where you can play with a friend throughout the whole campaign.

The playing with a friend thing sounds nice. :O I'm just worried I may not enjoy this game because of its difficulty.

It's pretty funny to me that people were like "What if you made a game that was as nuanced and in-depth as Dark Souls but you, like, explain how to play it, kinda..." and that's enough for everyone to be like "Oh yeah this is really cool" instead of just getting ruthlessly slaughtered an infinite number of times because you literally have no idea what anything is or means or why you have to do anything.

So dark souls? Because there isn't much you need to explain about it.

I don't think there was ever a question that a more standard tutorialized experience would have a broader appeal, DS's approach with minimal instructions and mechanics as puzzles always had a niche aim. I don't think that really makes one approach better than another though.

I played not the latest demo but the one two demos ago. It did indeed feel even harder than Dark Souls games. I'm not the biggest DS proponent in the world anymore though; I never finished 3. Also, randomized loot is the opposite of what I want.

But I have been playing happy-go-lucky games like Miku, Trials Fusion and Metal Gear Solid 5 a lot recently so maybe I want something dark and brutal for a change.

The one two demos ago was way harder and less good (imo). The final build is great though, in spite of the diablo loot (which I also hate).

Pachinko is only in one or two games I think, and not 0 afaik. I think it's especially expensive to license.

Eh, I think it's just that pachinko parlors are the main source of income for many companies and they are very stingy on any attempt to give people their fix without coming in and pumping in coins.

That said, I think Y4 and 5 have pachinko. 6 didn't anyway.

It's only considered cheating by other people playing the games, you're not going to get a ban or in trouble in any way shape or form for using it.

I played shooters on PC for years and hate playing FPS with a pad so I bought a XIM, used it for battlefields, overwatch, CoD and other stuff without issues.

Yes, you can straight up select people from your friend's list to co-op with.

Wrong; Yes and Yes.

You can search for friends using either mode. You can play with just friends as phantoms or as whole campaign.

Also somebody has to unfortunately beat the level before you can co-op it. :( Hopefully team ninja changes that, although it does keep your run more pure in souls terms and gives you co-op stuff after.

You can co-op twilight missions right away though which is interesting. They definitely seem more designed for co-op.

E: To clarify, you can summon without having beaten the level but to be summoned you have to have beaten it.

They're slot machines that people fool themselves into thinking they can develop skill at and improve their winnings.

Its like taking the sunk cost fallacy and doubling it. If it just play a bit more, I can get better, and win back my money!

What about the coop in yokai realm? The one that's truly full coop with shared life bar. It seems weird if you can't do that from the start.

Oh, God of War 3! Took a bit for combat to click but I'm enjoying it. Just put my boot through Hercules and am reveling in how goddamn angry Kratos is. Just continuously, excessively GRRR about everything. I do love how the game doesn't try to justify it or anything, he's just a complete dickhead and that's that. :allears:

Metal Gear Rising will always come out on top though. As I said, it was the first game of its sort that I genuinely enjoyed and learned to play on the harder difficulties - I also liked the DMC reboot, but it's not safe for me to talk about that too loudly. :v:

I'm playing Tomb Raider 2013 and got through the Solarii base etc. I'm back at the beach now and we have to fix the boat. How much is left in the game? I'm enjoying it but the whole "escape" sequence felt very end-of-game. Also I'm worried that Lara is going to explode and/or burn down the rest of the island, or that more of her friends will be murdered in front of her. :ohdear:

There's a bit of the game left. There's a very abrupt shift in the type of enemy you face that signifies the final portion.

You have the boat, then a new area to explore, then the endgame. That's at least a couple of hours, more if you want to find everything.

So I bought a Pro yesterday. I uploaded all my saves to cloud storage on my old PS4 but when I went to download them to the Pro it doesn't work(says something like the application isn't available). Does this mean I can't download saves for games I haven't played yet on the Pro? That's a big issue for the Nioh last chance trial data since it's not playable anymore.
