Volvo V90 pricing is out:
"Prices for the entry-level T5 FWD R-Design V90 will start from $49,950, with a destination fee bumping that price by another $995. For that price of entry buyers will get front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine developing 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Other standard features include Volvo's City Safety technology suite, Blind Spot Information System and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For those that prefer a more understated wagon, the T5 FWD Inscription V90 can be had from $51,950. Both trims can be upgraded with Volvo's T6 AWD package, which includes a 316 horsepower supercharged and turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder and all-wheel drive. Prices for the T6 AWD R-Design V90 start from $$55,950 while the T6 AWD Inscription V90 commands $57,950."

Sure looks nice but for someone who doesn't care about luxury interiors that's well over what I'd pay for those specs. Hope it sells well though.

There isn't much else. The E-Class wagon starts at $60k for a 300 hp NA V6 and RWD. Nobody else sells a large wagon in the US.

The T6 Inscription actually sounds like a pretty good deal.

The other thing to remember is that most people aren't buying these, they're leasing them. Mercedes has E-Class lease deals all year long...Volvo will probably follow suit.

I drove an S90 recently - while it was beautifully finished with great seats and cool tech, I found the engine underwhelming for its complexity and the ride too harsh with no apparent gain in handling.

I really like the design direction that all the new Volvos have taken, but I'm still very skeptical about the longer term reliability and build quality. AFAIK this is all first generation stuff after the Geely purchase. And it's not like Volvos have been known for rock solid reliability any time recently (not since the 80s/early 90s). They're infamous for being just as, if not more, expensive to maintain and repair than their German counterparts these days, probably in part to being sold in way smaller volume.

That little turbo+super charged 2 liter motor sounds very complicated and has got to be getting worked pretty hard to be cranking out over 300hp and 300 ft-lb.

I hope that I'm wrong, though. Would love to see Volvo stage a big comeback. The V90 looks baller as hell.

Is that a big deal though? I mean I'm pretty picky with a $30k car but I imagine a lot of people aren't, but if I were dropping $60k on something I'd want exactly what I want and wouldn't be hunting for a bargain based on whatever combination of options the dealer has in stock that day. Does Volvo do like Kia where they just bundle all the options into just two or three packages or can you pick and choose every detail?
