I did start watching Shameless and oh drat is it good. I didn't realize it was seven seasons long, but now I'm committed as long as it doesn't turn to poo poo in a few seasons like most shows do. I already hate the homophobic kid and the gay kid, but the rest of the cast is top notch.

I'm so sorry

I'm a little bummed that there's no thread for Baskets, I'd love to chat about this show with someone. They're like four episodes into the new season and it's been great so far, so weird and touching and funny and sad. Louie Anderson is still killing it and the whole storyline set up by the finale last season seems to be wrapping up and it was pretty loving intense for a "Zach Galifianakis plays an obnoxious clown" show. There doesn't really seem to be anything else like this on TV right now, tonally it reminds me of Louie sometimes but it's still pretty much its own thing.

Yeah Baskets owns but honestly only like 3 people including you and I would post in a thread for it. Still one episode behind but the first 3 are goddamn awesome, a step up from season 1 and even more bizarre and downbeat.

Is Horace and Pete streaming anywhere or still just purchase only?

It's on Hulu

and yeah I prefer H&P (as everyone should know by now) but that doesn't seem super relevant re: Baskets

They're both Louis CK joints

Baskets is also on Hulu, something that Hulu apparently tried to hide from me until last night, so I'm rewatching season 1 and it's even better the second time. It's great when Zach Galafinakas actually puts effort forth

I haven't watched The Magicians but it's the sort of thing I'm into so I'll probably get round to it eventually. However, I just looked it up on Amazon and according to its pre-order page it's got an 18 certificate in the UK.

What's it got then? Violence? Nudity?

Long Live The King!

Is that the equivalent of an R rating? It's a Syfy show so I can't imagine anything that would garner that.

Yeah, I think 18 would be R. The ratings we have are U > PG > 12 > 15 > 18.

It's pretty violent. Outside of the US I think people are more wary of violence than nudity.

Might well be. I believe having a neck snap in your show is an automatic 15 rating, because the only DS9 disc with a 15 certificate on it is the one with the episode where O'Brien (accidentally) breaks a guy's neck.

FarScape likewise has an 18 rating for a single episode (the one where Chianna bursts some kind of pustule on a living alien space ship and it splatters over the bad guy and melts his arm off).

Parent's guide on IMDb doesn't make it sound too adult at all outside of the f-bombs, really. Wouldn't think the violence would be so brutal if it's just SyFy.

So are we talking 24 quality? Or...

(And of course I mean old school 24 and not the new 24.)

I liked the Legion pilot, but it's gotten pretty eye rolling that we still always see mental hospitals on TV portrayed as being full of drooling space cadets and twitchy lunatics. At least everyone wasn't wearing bathrobes for once. Otherwise it looks fantastic and I'm interested to see where it goes from here.
