Every CD level is great as it happens to be the best Sonic game.

Actually I guess I'd like them to confirm there are CD and S3&K levels, then I'm ignoring the news.

when even the "top" route is the "hard slowdown Sonic with obstacles route" the level design fails.

CD has far too much of that going on.

It's the most fun to learn and speedrun imo. None of the levels are slow when you know what you're doing. I was really into Sonic CD for a few months last year, I need to get back in to it and get my time down lower than this.

The level design doesn't "fail", it's just way different than Sonic 2 and 3. It feels a lot more experimental which I guess explains why it's a love it or hate it game. For me it's far more interesting to play through than any of the others.

Once you get over the 'not muh sonic' feeling, the level design is good.

Except Wacky Workbench, that's just tilt factory.

My dream remix levels for Sonic Mania are Metallic Madness and Wacky Workbench.

I bet we'll see either Lava Reef or Flying Battery though, which I won't complain about.

I acknowledge it's technically well made game and it's very possible and even satisfying to play it well, but it doesn't do the things I feel a classic Sonic level should. The skill ceiling is much higher, it's harder to consistently hold speed after attaining it, and the levels generally feel too "busy".

I acknowledge it's value at the very least, but the levels could use some streamlining for accessibility.

The only bad thing about sonic CD is not getting both versions of the soundtrack on one disc.

Spiderdrake
May 12, 2001

It doesn't have the same goal as a classic Sonic level so of course it doesn't feel like a classic Sonic level.

I'd like them to remix levels that can be expanded upon in an interesting way, like Marble Zone, but there's actually very few "bad" options.

I think we all agree that what comes with being a sonic the hedgehog fan is the majesty of being part of unconditionally the most expressive fandom of all time...there are thousands of ways to be a sonic fan,,but...I cannot say that I entirely agree with the path that mr. Honestly I feel like the fandom and everything that comes with it have toned down over the course of this decade. Most Sonic fans I've encountered have either been very earnest but not really weird, or shitpost-y about it.

I mean, there's still some strange things, but you really have to look for them.

Other, newer fandoms surpassing it on the weird/NSFW scale probably helped out a lot in that regard.

Also good mashup dude.

Weary and forlorn, Knuckles shambled along the rainy streets of Carnival Island. A glow caught his eye, and his gaze rose up to meet it. "Attraction Information," the sign read. The downpour stung his bloodshot eyes, and he heaved a sigh. Knuckles wondered to himself how many more times he had to walk the strip before he and his friends could be reunited. He had no choice, he had to press on, for their sake. He trudged his way into a sheltered booth, taking refuge from the intensifying weather. Once inside, the booth emitted a blinding spotlight, illuminating a claw far overhead. Knuckles wistfully stared into a pit where the claw was descending. After what felt like a lifetime, the claw retracted from the pit, carrying a capsule with it. The claw dropped the capsule, which slammed onto the concrete with a crash, where it then sat. Knuckles held his breath. Suddenly, the capsule generated a deafening whir. It gyrated and groaned, and finally, a cloud of steam bellowed out from within. A tall, slender figure emerged from the cloud. Knuckles eagerly jumped from the booth.

"Vector!" Knuckles exclaimed, colliding into a strong embrace.

"Good to see you again, buddy!" Vector released him, and they stood, beaming at each other.

"How long has it been, three levels? Four? I'm going as fast as I can!" Knuckles choked through his tears.

"Hey Knux, I know you're not known for chuckles, but buck up! You've gotta flex your muscles!"

"You're right, man. Let's go. We've got to get moving if we want to get out of here." Knuckles said, starting into a jog.

The reunited pair ran off into the night, bound together by a tether as strong as their friendship.

I think I put 50+ hours into it lol (I got every chieve cause that's what Sonic would want :c00l: )

Yeah, the original Sonic All-Stars racing game was kinda lovely but they really knocked it out of the park with Transformed. It's a pity it's just seen as just another generic Mario Kart clone.
