1. Skinner's Vietnam War story. This is the sort of joke they used to do all the time except this time it's VERBAL instead of it being a visual gag:

I love Principal Skinner (you know, before the whole Armin Tamzarian thing).

THIS is what we want from The Simpsons.

Looking back, this one seems a lot like the Arrested Development type of humor that would come almost a decade later.

I think the very first pointless celebrity cameo that made me think the show was starting to turn to poo poo was having Paul and Linda McCartney just chilling on the roof of the Kwik-E-Mart for whatever reason in Lisa the Vegetarian. Like, okay, Paul said that he and Apu were old friends from India, but what business did they have being on the roof of the Kwik-E-Mart at *~that exact moment~* Lisa needed enlightenment about vegetarianism other than being a pointless celebrity cameo?

It was a dumb cameo in an episode I'm not quite fond of.

The episode where Lisa becomes a Buddhist follows a similar structure (both in tone of the episode and a pointless celebrity cameo): Lisa becomes disillusioned with something, finds a new thing, is mocked and ridiculed for said new thing, and RICHARD GERE OUT OF loving NOWHERE at a Buddhist temple to enlighten her about balance between her beliefs and others . Just ugh.

Linda McCartney is a v. famous vegetarian, well was.

There was a new episode tonight. It featured Patton Oswalt as a mental manifestation of Bart's guilt and a framing device of Lisa talking right to the audience. Chess superstar Magnus Carlson was a guest voice, and he loving sucked real bad. Rod and Todd (who had not been in the episode up to that point) solved Bart's problem by performing a literal miracle.

Episode was good, for new Simpsons.

You can't compare a burger from a nice restaurant and a burger from Wendy's. As far as Wendy's burgers go, Sunday's was a tasty one.

I have actually, and one of them I thought was bad but not complete dogshit, but I can't remember which one. I tried it again the next week and it was horrific, so that's why I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here.

Its a prime example of why the Simpsons is bad now. The original "Bort" joke was funny just for how out there it was but this is just a lovely reference to that.

Only emojis can express my pure, simple stupidity.

tbh, and just imo, I feel like the ongoing popularity of the Simpsons is largely because of Europe.

They loving eat that poo poo up. I swear it has to be one of the most watched shows in most European countries. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or "lol those dumb Americans," or what.

But oh god the dubbing, especially German
