Well, it's us forcing abolishionism or khaba forcing slaves to work themselves to death.

As long as we push the border defense militia angle I'm fine with it. You guys don't want to make waves when it comes to smaller things like talking to Indor or taking Scorpy back to Zepath but now you're pushing for massive societal change.

We're always hiring!

All things considered, I would prefer to lead by example, rather than brute force morality.
I mean, how much difference is there between conquering a city through military might and telling them how to live and in holding it hostage economically instead?
One might be less violent and bloody than the other, but, we're still using a position of strength to force our ideals on others.

Diog was repeatedly explicit about the fact that taking OC back to Zepath was a terrible idea. I personally think Indor is rad and wish we could hang with and learn from her, but with the way society is we can't. We need to pick a side and stay on it if we want Ishy to teach us and society to trust us. It's not like we've gone on a crusade against slavery and publicly declared that El hates slavers, we just saw an opportunity to do some good in the world and took it. Even if you take the issue of the ethics of slavery out of it, we are literally preventing bloody wars by making this deal with Khaba. We even have a good excuse as to why we're doing it with the "all men must be armed" thing.

Plus if people see both Kavodel and Acco not using slaves as much and still prospering, maybe it might catch on? I mean probably not, but at least it will get people used to the idea in preparation for the day when we can punch melachim in the face and start making moral declarations.

Diog is making it sound like we can't do that. Either way, Slavery must end in Kavodel upon our return, and we need to let Khaba know that as well.

If we end slavery when we come back to Kavodel, we make our dealings with Khaba even more explicit. Also Tudiya would probably have to approve it.

What if Urian otters have otter slaves? What if it's slavery all the way down in Ur?
