I'm pretty sure the wife is supposed to be some sort of anime trope as well which is why her eyes are uncomfortably wide and she has such obvious crows feet. It gives me hope the entire comic is tongue in cheek and not played completely straight. but it's the internet...

I think Ryan North is now a writer for Archie comics, and he often talks about how much respect he has for old Archie, and posts stuff that's pretty funny for the times. But I'm pretty sure he usually is showing actual comic books and not the daily strips.

I'm not precisely clear what is hard to understand. She has to get into a swordfight and is trying to train using youtube videos due to comedy. Youtube is a Bad Website and so is buffering instead of showing the video.

The main thing is that gwenpool isn't from a comic book but read them in the universe she's from. Now she's in a comic and uses her knowledge of their workings to her advantage. She isn't super at all but knows so much about comics she just owns every situation. Like Deadpool she's aware that she's a character in a comic. I haven't read a lot of it but like Dr McNinja it seems to delight in knowing what it is while light heartedly making fun of its own genre.
