Bob James posted:There are multiple pitch count thresholds that demand more and more days rest the higher the pitch count. 30 pitches = 1 day rest. If you go over 50 pitches you need to rest like 4 days which means you basically can't pitch again for that round. Pulling Archer at 40 something pitches allows him to be used in a later game in the same round. The Rays told Team USA to pull him at 4 innings.
